Marry a Rich Old Man Chapter 42 Discussion

Very well written but it feels more like a tragedy than a romance tbqh.

A very realistic portrayal of the circumstances / family dynamics that could lead one down the path of keeping secrets and lying to family, eventually leading to being stuck in a toxic and controlling relationship. While I don't like the MC's family (aside from the brother), going to the ML is worse.

ML is immediately super controlling in every aspect of MC's life.

During their second meeting (even before knowing about the pregnancy), ML is upset when MC doesn't agree to get a room with him again. This is when they met because MC was at work and couldn't avoid him because ML was a customer. Then ML. Gets MC fired from his job because He doesn't think it's appropriate for him. Like man you're the exact type of customer that he should be worried about!!

After knowing about the pregnancy, he pressures MC to move in asap (along with sharing a bed), follows along on a family trip (unknown to MC's family), controls his diet, and won't let him leave the house without prior approval. When he does leave without approval, he blows a fuse. Once, MC goes to the neighbor's place (a friend of ML) and forgets to take his phone. When he returns, MC is so scared of being punished that he bursts into tears. The friend gets beaten fairly badly by the ML for "not keeping track of the time".

ML never tries to get MC to tell his family about the pregnancy either, despite wanting MC to marry him. Instead, he says that he'll pick the lock where MC's household registration is to avoid telling anyone when they need it to marry.

Overall super well written with very believable characters. I just can't bring myself to root for the ML. Instead I'm hoping that MC gets out of there asap.
