Let's get this out of the way first. Sometimes these "romance" novels that have the genre tag of tragedy are ridiculous with how much unbelievable "tragedy" that they want to pack in. I like to refer to novels that ab*se the tag tragedy (and their characters), as suffering from "Soap Opera Syndrome" or S.O.S. for short. These types of stories like to pretend that the characters, and their relationships, are dark, sad, and twisted because they're adults. While there are many adults that do horrible things to others, and even their partners, that's not how normal adults handle their problems. So these stories like to normalize toxic behavior, manipulation, ab*se, and violence in "romantic" relationships. For the people who like to preach about how it's "realistic" I'd just like to counter that maybe these people are just sadists (and not the good kind) who enjoy watching and reading about other people suffering horribly for "love". Or maybe their own relationships have been toxic and abusive so they think that's what is romantic. As bad as some of those stories can get, this one is worse. It goes beyond the stereo-typically bad "adult" romance novel into psychotic violence and torture. There is violence, there is gore, there is torture, there is cheating, and anything else your mind can imagine... And none of it is interesting, well done, or with good reason (there's flimsy justifications, but it's just bad writing honestly). If you find torture and humiliation to be interesting to read in your "romance" novels, then this might just be right up your alley. If you're looking for a bit of poorly written horror, you might enjoy this too. Otherwise I'd highly suggest everyone else just avoid this.I can't even give it an extra star for being Yuri in good conscience.
