PROS

  • Comedy - Raon & the Giving Wrath's banters are amusing. The way Dorian pulls out anything out of his belly pocket is entertaining and even Martha's cursing is funny. The scenario where Raon was scamming Sloth while Wrath was dying from anger issues was especially hilarious. 😂 Rimmer's reports about the success of a mission will never not be funny.😂 Also, when the Light Wind Squad members became mad dogs cause of Raon's intensive care and they carried Burren to the mountain like he was an offering was extremely comical.
  • Character Developments
  • Excellent & Touching Camaraderie - especially between Raon and Dorian + Rimmer & Raon
  • Fleshed-out characters with distinctive personalities
  • MC collecting doormats - It seems like more and more MCs are now well-versed in the art of scamming.
  • Detailed food reviews - The author seems to be a foodie/gourmet
  • Non-repetitive events with breaks in between arcs. Breaks aren't boring nor simple fillers. They add something to the story or to the development of a character.
  • Author is good at building up tension Spoiler

especially when Raon killed Derus's most trusted subordinates & blew up the dungeon then Derus came bolting to his location while Raon hasn't escaped yet

  • Different POVs
  • Doting grandfathers - one is a frustrating tsundere whom I can't help but want to smack in the head while the other one is a kind grandfather despite his ominous nickname yet is affiliated to a suspicious organization
CONS

  • Obvious usage of plot armor - like whenever the MC encounters a more powerful opponent, the enemy lets him off the hook cause he deems the MC "interesting" or the MC gets saved by Rimmer or someone else on the last minute
  • MC always wins whether it's a battle, gambling or drinking game (tho I already expected this since I felt like it's that kind of novel)
  • Most battles are not impressive nor do they excite me that much (only some), probably because there's just too much descriptions and explanations rather than action. And the paragraphs are a tiny bit long when there are fights which makes them seem like the fights are bland and longer than they're supposed to be. Maybe if they were written a bit better, they would've been quite good battle scenes. When writing battle scenes, shorter sentences & less descriptives/explanations are typically better to incite the feeling of urgency & excitement.
