In the earlier chapter, the scene where a certain Niu brat together with that Qiu Chong (not sure anymore) anyway, he's that bird mutant who covets the FL's bunny ears, it was mentioned that one of their teammates used something like ice. In fact, that guy killed Hei Lang's mother with an ice spear. However, it's baffling because it's more or less like a superpower rather than an evolved man, which is inconsistent with the setting of the story. Next, about the time skip. The only time skip which was clearly mentioned is the 2 year time skip. However, in the latter chapters, it was mentioned that the apocalypse has been going for nearly 10 years, which confused me. After all, when they were separated, it's just the 1st year of the apocalypse, then there's the 2 years separation. So what happened with the remaining 7 years time skip? It's not mentioned. Next is the "too detailed and too much going on" chapters or fillers. There are some chapters which I skipped because it's not that important and I know that the characters in that chapter won't appear again. It kinda made me feel impatient and bored. And lastly, I'm quite dissatisfied with how the author sometimes "debuffed" the FL. It's because sometimes, the FL looks weak (well, she's indeed the strongest female character in the story though). However, she's been downplayed often when paired with the ML. It's understandable though as the ML is in the 9th level while she's at 8th. But still, I expected more from her.
[collapse].Nevertheless, it's still a good story with a unique twist. SpoilerWhen I was expecting some usual apocalyptic scenes like zombies and the likes which is the common apocalyptic setting, I was given some aliens and such. Also, although I did say that those fillers bored me, the good side is that the information given by the author is very detailed. Therefore, I can really imagine it (to the point that there's one time where I got a little scared at night because when I close my eyes to sleep, I can imagine those gruesome looks of the aliens), anyway, kudos to that! The action scenes are also excellent due to the detailed narration. Lastly, about the romance, well it's sweet and touching but I think the story focuses more on the action scenes as well as the conflict of humanity and morality which is also worth the thought.
[collapse]Finally, let's talk about the things I feel disappointed (and sad) about. SpoilerFirst on the list is the Xuyang team. I thought they will stay together until the end as a team, so I was fairly sad when they broke up. Although they are still friends, I was expecting some adventures of them together. Second, is about the short-lived second ML, Cangyang Jiangqu. I don't know what scene of his pained me more. Was it when he doesn't want the FL to know that his consciousness is still there when she visited him because he wants her to remember his good appearance rather than his hideous and pitiful appearance because of the alien inside his body, or was it when he told the researchers that if his heart wasn't rotten yet, bury it to his country and let him return to his roots? I actually also feel unfair for him. Like, why him? And why be the 2nd ML darn. And third, there's not much extra stories. I want to know whether Zhao Qiyang really ended up with Lin Jia. Or does Xiaoxiao likes the City Z base's lord or she just like going after him because he's like an elder to her? Anyway, I really want to know this.
[collapse] But despite all of this, I am quite happy that the main "threads" were all tied. Like, the supposedly FL and ML of the novel, the future of Yin Yiliu and Jin Yang, the Earth's consciousness, and what happened after the new era started.Overall, it's a good story, especially for those who want some action scenes, an apocalyptic setting, aliens, shape shifting, romance, and more. It's an 8.5/10 for me.
