It's melodramatic and cliché, but it does well enough in portraying emotions and walking through a character's thinking. I may not always agree with some of these characters' thoughts (like, really, I could only resist rolling my eyes at the eldest son's thinking because he has a traumatic history; everyone else was just being foolish), but I can understand where they're coming from. The pacing ain't half-bad and there are some interesting ideas in there (namely, the MC and her brother's very complicated relationship with their parents and the motivations of said parents).It's great to read if you want to be brain-dead for a change, but I recommend you read this in bursts of chapters, as opposed to singular chapters. Seriously, you may die of frustration if you decide to read this one chapter at a time. 😅
