I agree with Katielicious's comment, ML's father is really incompetent, the novel could have ended much faster if he had not made such questionable decisions, which made me feel like I was in a waste of time, that the novel was lengthened on purpose, and I'm not wrong!! the author specifically did it this way to lengthen the novel and gain more, then he tries to compensate for the very long plot with the daily interactions of the MC and the ML, so when reading you have a feeling as if the story was suddenly interrupted, the characters are walking into something, or they're about to find out something, and they don't do it, it's nothing, instead you have a bunch of sweet interactions, then again they're going to find out something and... sweet sweet, sweet again, it's a little frustrating and I don't like it...
