Na, it's because that attack contained Zeon's feelings and determination, and because Zeon is a man, so he felt like he should face the attack head on.
It's similar to the reason Gash wants to use Baou again (though it being the only attack that can defeat Zeon is a big factor too).
Yeah, this makes sense. In a way it's all kind of a subversion of the typical shonen trope (the villain gaining power through artificial means while the hero trains like crazy to show that hard work wins in the end), which makes Zeon fairly interesting as a villain since he's always seen himself as the underdog (instead of following a basic evil twin trope).
Yet it's not a complete subversion on the hero's part, because while Zatch's Baou is very powerful, it's also very detrimental to himself at the same time. I'm curious to see how he'll manage to use it a second time. Most likely through his sheer determination/willpower to save his friends.
