Despite being a spoiler, this sister will not say what the phrase is, just what the context and situation are. The ML was misinterpreted by the elders. Something recurrent in stories. However when it all happened he was a child, he had dreams and illusions about the world. Nobody really explained to him what happened. AND And even so, they demanded an understanding, a value and an unsuitable behavior for his age.
