The novel really start out well. It show's how the emotions derived from one's first love can lead to irrational decisions, but as the story progresses and the truths are revealed these irrational/poor common sense decisions continue to occur. After a while it turns into a "Well shouldn't anyone with a shred of common sense do x to achieve their goal y", but it doesn't happen. All common sense is thrown out the window in order to create a worthless arc or continue the story. Moreover this story eventually devolves into a "Pick-Me" harem, with every female introduced somehow developing feelings or having a inner monologue of how attractive the MC is. Spoiler
There is a Harem ending.
[collapse]I honestly liked the female side characters (other than the knight commander), they at least had enough character development where you can match their actions to their motivations. But sadly, their character's growth just has the end result of being in MC's harem. The novel started with a good premise, but starts continuously degrades due to the lack of logic the MC and his first love have. MC doesn't seem to have a lot of character growth, and his growth powerwise doesn't really make any sense. SpoilerThe MC was never a mana/aura expert nor an expert swordsman, and he had his mana sealed for almost the entirety of the time after he graduated from the knight academy. When he finally is able to use aura, he's somehow able to stand up to the best knights on the continent, and win the Kingdom's swordsmanship contest?
[collapse]TL;DR - starts with a good premise, continues with completely irrational decisions in order to create worthless arc's, ending up with a pick-me harem.
