First off the Chinese nationalism is cringe. It makes the parts where protagonist is back on earth almost unreadable and daft. I rated 3/5 stars averaging the scores of the Earth and San Soleil parts. 2/5 for Earth arcs and 4/5 for San Soleil arcs. But such is the way most Chinese writers must write about a modern setting, should that setting include a modern China SMH. Earth arcs also feel like filler as there is already no danger to protagonist on earth, while there are still enemies in San Soleil. The only thing that happens in the earth arcs is the glorification of China and the degradation of their real life enemies i.e. The U.S. And South Korea. Japan is seen as an ally of China in the series when you consider Japan-China relations at the time the author was writing seems to make sense (relationships was slightly softening at the time). Previously the protagonist said he wouldn't use his powers to change the geopolitical landscape too much, but I guess that was BS as protag goes out of his was to destroy the U.S. With every one of his machinations.
