To be honest, I picked up this novel because of the cover art and thought it would be an interesting read. I was disappointed.I originally thought that the novel was too fast-paced, but then I pinpointed the problem. The character interactions are too shallow.Spoiler
For example, at the very beginning where Van starts his journey of proving his ability, Hans immediately becomes a glazer. Sure Van does proof his worth, but the supposed 'genuine' praise is exaggerated to the point where it feels fake.
[collapse] The surrounding character's exaggerated opinion of Van is also extended throughout all of Van's interactions with other characters. They're just constantly singing praise for Van which makes it annoying rather than satisfying to the reader for our protagonist.Despite the characters, I do appreciate the setting the story takes place in—especially the magic system. Some parts of the novel look into the details of the magic system and is interesting enough to read through. I won't persistently check for updates for this novel, but I'd most likely read this as a read to melt my brain cells to.
