All these reviews are correct, but I gave it 4 stars because the first third of the novel was great. It was clever, had political intrigue, and I will admit that I like Pei Zheng (ML). He's possessive, selfish and abusive towards MC and cold and distant with everyone else, very few (if any) redeeming qualities (he's fine af in the manhua though) The MC suffered brain damage as a child so he is "slow" now. This doesn't mean that he has to be as dumb and passive as he is, but I still give him a pass for it because Pei Zheng is the character that kept me interested anyway.The story goes downhill after Shen Huan shows up (though it was awesome to finally get a female character that wasn't a horrible monster). The character herself is fine, it's just the plot takes a nose dive and gets super repetitive.
