For example, she was told not to expose herself as a duel-power user and then she's set up and is "forced" to fight back (but not really because honestly, she could have walked away and control herself. After all, the story was telling us on how great her mental control is but then suddenly she got so angry she couldn't help herself??)
Another example is when the school is going to evacuate secretly due to the beast tide and leave the helpless humans behind but one of her teammates exposed it to the students and like 90% of the students vote to stay? Like, most of the freshmen who just got to the school all suddenly feel like they have to fight against this near-impossible level 8 beast tide and do it bravely?? I mean, this is a world where everyone discriminate against berserker genes and you can be forced to either die or awaken and yet, they have so much patriotism in them these 18 year olds are willing to fight against beasts that they have little to none experience with?
[collapse]So it kinda feels like the author picks and chooses what ideas they like the best out of the genre and sticks them all here. The MC is pretty emotionless and even though she's strong, it doesn't feel like you can connect with her well because the author doesn't really invest in her background. Like, why is she wanting to be so strong? Why is she working so hard? What is her motivation? Sure she has a system and wants to improve it, but we don't know why she wants to. She isn't the real Song Shi that was previously bullied and can give us a reason. We don't know a lot about her before she transmigrated. There's nothing we can really connect to the MC with. Overall, I think the story is just ok but execution can be better. If you like genres like this and are bored then it's not a bad read so far. I also haven't gotten to the romance yet (if there is any) but maybe I'll read until I get there.
