One Piece World – Man sealed on the Moon Chapter 92 Discussion

The translation is horrid. Now, I'm not one to be ungrateful and I can accept a level of bad translations that most people wouldn't put up with. But this? It's damn near unreadable. I glanced over... probably 30 chapters or more of incoherent rambling. Even now, at c92, I'm skipping multiple paragraphs at a time simply due to the horrible translation. It's giving me a headache trying to put together the story, that's how borderline incoherent the chapters are. Don't get me wrong, it's not the worst translation I've seen but it's up there.

And I don't even know why I'm complaining about this because Chinese translated fanfiction isn't exactly well-known for having character consistency, but... C'mon! I can accept the obvious Chinese cliche sayings like, 'I, Whitebeard, king of sea, will hatred this remembered!' or the s*upid "saving face" sh*t that plagues Chinese novels, but the ooc aspects of this is killing me internally. No, Akainu isn't a toddler in human form. For all of his anger and ruthlessness in the original series, he wasn't an idiotic toddler that threw a tantrum the second he didn't get his way.

"Wahhhh! Sengoku-daddy-san didn't nominate me for 'Marine Marshal' and I'm big mad!!!!" Akainu pouted, staring daggers into Sengoku's back. His eyes got a little misty, his heart torn as the feeling of betrayal echoed throughout his soul. A part of him wanted to get up and strangle the man to death but he decided not to. Picking up his toddler pacifier, he started to suck on it until he calmed down enough to continue the broadcast.

That's not actually in the story, but that's the vibe I'm getting from the people in this fanfic. It's mostly Akainu but I'd be capping hard if I said that it wasn't basically every character that's considered antagonistic in the real One Piece story, only to a lesser degree.

I'm also going to complain about the main character. Why does he exist? It's the main question constantly bouncing around my head every time I try to pick up one of these 'Broadcasting (example anime name) ' fanfictions. He's just a shell, he serves no other purpose than to just be there. If they took him out of the story and had the person doing the broadcasts and questions be an automatic system/AI, the story would be the exact same. No, let me take that back. It'd be a much better read. Then, we wouldn't have to deal with the cringiness that comes with him yapping about being a neutral party, just to directly intervene at the slightest... well, slight.

One of the best stories I've read.  The plot is captivating, so far its different than any others I've read.  Some of the grammar is off. But I totally give this book 5 stars.
