This novel started with an interesting premise of "playing by the rules of the novel and getting the best out of it" but the name "Depressing illusion" perfectly describes my experience. The more I read, the more dull and boring it became. The good third of the novel is dedicated to various depictions of eating, food, feeding, meals and so on, which is just an empty read? The remainder is split between nosebleeds, how sickly MC is and actual plot, which was moving at a snail pace.Could I drop it? Probably. Did I stick to the end to see whether MC actually follows the end of the novel (just in case) ? Yep. Would I recommend it? Nope.
