Hmm, this one is difficult to rate. I enjoyed it, the main character was very self-aware and a bit self-deprecating, and almost pessimistic about everything. The text was humorous in an understated way.But I'm not a huge fan of characters of this type because it felt like the MC walked through life completely passively with everything happening to him instead of him actively making things happen. He also seemed dissatisfied with his existence and had no friends, but made no move to change anything and was constantly surprised that he got noticed by other people. There were things that made him very relatable as a person though. There wasn't a very good or detailed explanation on why he attracted the potential MLs who were from a way higher socio-economic status and ability and it did seem kind of like love at first sight for everyone. We're told that his attractive qualities are that he was "pure" and innocent and shy which are commonly found in all CNovels and essentially what is heavily marketed as the ideal feminine traits that make women attractive to men. (Yes the MC is male but since he's the "bottom" of the relationship, Chinese authors basically write them the same as females anyway.) But despite the plethora of cliches and wish-fulfillment unrealistic fantasy, there were some good moments and overall the writing attempts to be realistic (ish). The author's notes were quite humorous, almost a bit subversive, so that did make the story better. I'm guessing this novel is geared towards comforting people who feel they live mediocre existences and telling them that they might end up with someone better? IDK.
