It's a good take on Modern Japanese Dungeon Hunting.If I were to compare it to anything, it's similar to the Korean "Gates" trope, but more secretive. The story is set in Modern Japan. The world itself is normal... on the surface. However, hidden between the folds of "reality", there are things called dungeons. These dungeons can only be seen by certain people, so normal, everyday life is hardly disturbed.Our MC obtains an opportunity to dive into them and doesn't hold back. In a sense, he's a battle freak and only wants to fight. Whether the dungeons are dangerous to others or humanity, he couldn't care less. He just wants to fight, whether that be people or monsters, and the app he downloads gives him that chance.The MC has a good character. Although he's young and can be a bit ignorant, he's not s*upid and isn't some cringe, beta cuck. Come at him with the intent to kill, he'll cut you down. He's generally wary of people's goodwill and has good intuition.To be honest, he's one of the better Japanese MCs I've seen in a while. So, it's interesting to follow him.However, that doesn't mean he's without faults. Other than when he's fighting, or thinking about future fights, he's rather normal.The World Building so far is decent. It's got some unique points, but some parts do leave me a bit confused. Though, I'm sure that'll get cleared up in future chapters.Give it a try!4/5
As for my personal opinion... as with almost every new Japanese webnovel, the female characters generally have to ruin it. That's not exactly the case here, but... it does feel like the FL is going to hold the MC back.It might be too early to tell, but within just a few chapters of meeting, the FL is already trying to control and limit the MC according to her own biased standards. I get that she's "doing it for his own good", but from my perspective, as someone who can relate to the MC's depression and boredom, what she's doing is forcefully making his life worse.Those who are truly bored with life, not even in a depressive way, will understand that once you find something you like, it's as if the world finally has color. Thoughts of death, sickness, and even family hardly matter. You've found your passion, your calling, and want to devote your soul to it.To have someone step all over that passion... to me, it's like the FL is killing the MCs dream.Again, this is just my opinion based on personal experience, but I really don't like the FL. I think it's fine for the MC to have a partner and love interest, but it should be with someone who is on the same page as the MC and will walk headfirst into the unknown with him. Someone who, instead of limiting his time fighting, will follow him and have his back no matter what.Other than that, this is a great novel, and I recommend giving it a try.
