Came for the story, and the memes pulled me in (from the 1st translator - absolutely killed it with the memes.) I for one, enjoyed the beginning of the story. It was funny, and made me laugh out loud a few times. Afterwards, maybe when the translator team changed, or when the story progressed to Chapter 70+, it felt draggy to me and lost the genuine moments of humor. It became more contrived after that. Didn't quite enjoy it as much but persisted in reading it because I've already become too invested in the story.FL is interesting in the beginning. She seems like a cool girl who's refreshingly honest and straightforward. However, her indecisiveness and tendency to hide from the truth annoys me when she often feigns ignorance with the romantic nature of her relationship with the ML. She'd also rather be his contract roommate/cook and not divorce (as per the few times she wanted to) with a few words from the ML saying, "what's the need?" and she goes, "huh, it's so comfortable here anyway~" and then stays on. Afterwards, due to her inferiority complex and thinking that ML deserves better (despite staying with him FOR SO LONG and knowing he doesn't take care of himself well without her), she just ups and runs. I found this part to be so confusing??? And then due to her soft-hearted nature and ML being pitiful, she returns. But still doesn't want to admit that she feels more for ML?ML on the other hand, is a laidback CEO cold face that's too pretty it's criminal. He's a lazy greedy man who loves to spout off nonsense and lies. He's a schemer but a lazy one. Just think of a person who just doesn't want to make the effort to do anything extra, but still wants to manipulate his surroundings a bit so he lies to get his way. He has super low EQ and straight man disease so his mouthy naughty mouth often gets him in trouble with how blunt he is. The type of man who'd carry a beautiful lady and go, "wow you're heavy".My favourite scene would be when:Spoiler
FL makes him crossdress and she goes so lustful and dominant in their bed activities that night cause he's just too pretty. ML searches for more dress/skirts the next day so that FL will continue to want to have s*x with him but he fails lmao.
[collapse]I honestly do not like the progression of the romance which is why I knocked off a star. It feels more like a comedy between two friends. In fact the beginning of the story was mostly of FL playing games with people and I was like, am I reading an esports novel??Later on, with ML chasing FL, it was quite interesting but I wanted FL to be more aware of her feelings instead of hiding from them. ML seems to hold the shorter stick with how often he has to starve and faint due to FL (first she ran away, and then later a sudden incident happened.) Xu Bi Ying, the person who was reborn... played a few antagonistic roles in the story and I felt like it wasn't dramatic/faceslappy enough.Gu You suffers from 2nd Male Lead Syndrome but eventually finds his happily-ever-after.Tu Nan the comedic relief is our slapstick joker. He's fun but overused imo.All in all, an okay read. It's fun, but a bit on the boring side.
