Genocide Online ~Playtime Diary of an Evil Young Girl~ Chapter 29 Discussion

This novel is a mess. 20+ chapters in and theres no plot. At around chapter 25 her personality does a complete 180 decides to "befriend" some random dude she met and so far it seems like the only reason he was spared was so the reader could view his thoughts on how beautiful her back is.

Expanding on that, the power scaling makes no sense. The way they describe fighting reminds me of a bunch of kids roleplaying a fight via powergaming. Despite having zero muscles, she for some reason seems to have some absurd strength. At level 1 she was able to kill a whole crowd and face zero repercussions.

I'm going to pretend theres some contrived plot point like "using VRMMORPG technology, players take control of a clone in another world". Otherwise, I would have to come to the realization that nothing in this "VRMMORPG" makes a single lick of sense. I stopped at chapter 27 but from what I can tell it's just going to get more and more cringy.

EDIT: I have tried reading this multiple times, but every time I never make it past chapter 30. I want to reiterate something that wasn't terribly clear in my first review. Aside from the combat making next to zero sense, the plot itself makes no sense either. This MMO would not work in at all. Minor Spoilers

Spoiler

So, theres a chapter where they very briefly goes through the main character's absurd actions from the game developers point of view. Now, it is INCREDIBLY obvious how little sense this novel makes once you read. Your telling me in a MMO where any NPC is killable, it was unexpected for someone to kill the tutorial NPC that has like 1 hp? Also, the developers kept saying how it's absurd to get so much negative karma on the firs day, but how is it absurd? This is a MMORPG where anything and everything is killable. Surely there are more players than just one who decided to kill everything at moves right? Theres many other inconstancies than this. For example, you can set your pain setting to 100%, and the novel even states that its quite possible for someone to die using this setting. I find it incredibly unlikely for this to be even remotely legal. And again, I talked about this before, but why can a level 1 wantonly kill every human being in the starter city. Are there no strong guards? This makes no sense.

[collapse]

Besides all of that, the translation quality in this novel is really bad. Conversations in this novel aren't even remotely similar to how humans speak. This is essentially what you would get if you injected an AI with hundreds of hours of anime, and then told it to write dialogue for a psychotic character. Also, this novel has an excessive amount of periods. If the sentence doesn't end with a exclamation mark or a question mark, it certainly ends with a bunch of periods. Overall, this is a novel that was clearly banking off a unique main character, so much so they put zero effort into making a even remotely believable world, believable dialogue, etc. I wouldn't recommend this novel to anyone.

Absolutely loved the adrenaline rush I couldn’t take my eyes off this . I do think that maybe the author should sort out the spelling and grammar errors though.

Very good sorry line, kept me entertained. There were a few inconsistencies that broke the illusion of the story. Spell check is definitely lacking, which caused me to rethink whether I should continue or not, the story line kept me going.
