As someone who has actually read a bunch of it- it has a long, complicated fantasy plot builds over time. But. Right at the start, you see the worst of the ML through the FL's perspective. Betrayal doesn't even begin to touch what happened to the guy, and his worst bits you hear aren't as bad as it sounds (like having a single intrusive thought about hurting his own baby, right after watching his mutilated knights actually starve to death over weeks, and even he was disgusted the second he thought of it). Don't get me wrong, he's still a petty brat with anger issues and zero maturity, but he's not some villain. Her family, however, are as evil as any other 'fairy tale' bad guy. I dislike the ML, but he's not a monster.Anyway. The romance is wonky, the pacing is sometimes awkward, I'm still waiting to watch the ML suffer (don't judge me), and the plot is a big web that can be difficult to follow. The translation makes that part worse. It's weird- like it's mostly done well but has chunks that seem like they were done straight from a translation app.Overall, the novel itself is an interesting read so far, and would likely have a higher score if easier to follow. Again, ML is not half as bad as most guys in this genre, so ignore the first impression and see the bigger picture before skipping out.
