Background: MC died a horrible death and, as a ghost, she saw her loving family similarly suffered extremely gruesome deaths a few years later. The enemy/villain was a woman MC once considered a friend, who used her family as a stepping stone. The villain collected a harem of capable and powerful men who all played a part in disgracing and killing her family. MC gets a second chance at life, but returned one year after her demise. Her soul is hosted by a poor, mean-spirited, uneducated, lowlife woman who ab*sed her 4 year old son. In order for her soul to remain in this ill fitting body, she must travese through planes with a scum crushing system and earn points to buy a soul stabilizing potion. In almost every plane, she meets a man who seems to be another traveler. Regarding the r*pe mentioned by another reviewer... the system is a scum crushing system set out to punish the villains. Each host died a horrible death like the MC and they get to request the MC the kind of revenge they want, so the revenge MC dishes out is very much tit for tat.
As she resolves each world, she goes back to her "real life" and there is a parallel story in the real world. It's not like some other world hopping stories where it's back to back world hops and no rest.
MC and ML are almost OP characters, so if you don't like that in your novels, you might want to skip. The MC already had skills being the most talented woman in her generation prior to her death and she has one of those photographic memory. In addition, she gets awards for completing side quests like a space or hallucinogenic potions, which she uses to convince certain scums that she slept with them lol.
ML is extremely doting. He is a typical "domineering CEO" type who is possessive, but respectful of MC's goals and boundaries. He is very much a yes-man and his wife is NEVER wrong. Their relationship is loving and respectful. It's one of those "I will recognize your soul no matter what skin you're wearing" (but check spoiler bc this isn't exactly true *eyeroll*. In fact, the MC does get hosted by a man in one of the planes and he ML still goes after her hard after he realizes it's his wife lol.
MC is a loving and wise mother to the son she gained after inhabitanting the new body. I have suspicions regarding the "real life" she's living but I won't spoil it here. I really enjoy the mother and son dynamic, especially the way she teaches this genius of all geniuses little dumpling through stories, anecdotes, and letting him experience life without being a helicopter mom. She knows that her son is even more of a genius than herself, so she uses every opportunity to teach him to be a wary but kind person to benefit the people.
One of the most frustrating part about this novel during world travel arcs is most worlds don't get a nicely wrapped up conclusion. They end when she wakes up in RL and you are kept guessing as to what happens to the ML she left behind. Of course, there are a couple of planes that are followed through with extras. As expected, the ML is left heartbroken living out his life without her. So you can guess that in each world that she passes, the ML continues living a tragedy until he also dies. Sometimes, it doesn't take long, but in at least 1 world... she made him promise her that he will "live well" and caused him to have to live a long time in agony as you can imagine because all he wants to do is find her.
Spoiler
It should be noted that after the last world, and she's back to carry out her vengeance, the ML has very little screen time, if at all. He will be missing for the majority of the revenge arc except to follow her around unable to confirm whether she is Bei Yutang despite having all the clues. In the same manner she is also unable to see the shadow of the man she loved in her world travels in him. I think the authors fails right here and is giving us a big let down considering how intelligent these two are. The author writes that the excuse is that the FL must carry out her revenge on her own. If that's the case, fine but make the ML stuck in a world somwhere instead letting him pop up to annoy her. Very frustrating. There isn't a miss ID arc either. ML fully knows what MC originally looked like and just refuses to believe the new body carries his wife's soul. Bleh... poor writing here.
They realize their IDs around ch 3180... I day around because the Author wrote notes to readers as chapters sometimes so the count might be off. Actually, to be clear, at this pt FL only recognizes that ML is the one she met in her travels so she only knows half of his identity while he knows her fully.
Spoilers regarding the ML's ID. He is one of the major "Gods" of the world who is recuperating from something. Around 3180, he regain all his memories. Ming, FL's system seems very fearful of this god and apparently FL's whole existence is Ming's and other gods way of controlling ML once he fully awakens.
