When Jotaro was stabbed in the head I had an instant flashback to Joseph being sniped by Strait’s stingy eyes and had to ask: “what’s the mirror trick this time?” Well it was no mirror but like his old man, he had an optical illusion which almost tricked Dio. Speaking of that, Straits was all, Dio underestimated you and didn’t use his best abilities at once, so I will! And Dio has been all preparing to fight at his best and not underestimate his opponents, kinda at least, so I would anticipate Dio to shoot eye lasers! Like, he has a projectile which can cause explosions and one shot people doesn’t he? I wonder if there’s an explanation for why he doesn’t use that ability, maybe his vampiric powers hindered with slower regeneration is weakened in other ways, as he is only his head, perhaps he can’t even freeze people by touch.
Speaking of old school Dio, for him to try to double tap Jotaro is something he should know well. For, he survived the climactic battle in Windknights because Jonathan assumed he died and didn’t double tap. It was charming and then seeing him casually deal with Polnareff’s sneak attack was also a reminder of how much better he’s become at controlling his emotions. His emotional explosions are so much more rare now, but I suppose I should wait until next chapter. That said, the manner in which he casually pulled his head out of the normally fatal stab gave me flashbacks to the incredible moment he slid his two halves back into place.
It may not have worked but good on Polnareff, he’s back in the picture!! I wonder if he was waiting for a good time to attack or if he was up to something else. Perhaps he tended to Joseph. I also wanted to mention that the pattern of Jotaro complaining about his uniform, like when it was burned and he replaced it exactly or his comments about his uniform being ripped against Dio both times have built up into a nice gag. So manly.
