I’m glad to meet D’arby’s younger brother.  The older brother was center to a great arc, gambling rules, but I was slightly sad.  I anticipated the gambles to be anything quite naively, I was sad because a man who you could challenge to anything would be a great way to explore characters and their strengths in a more creative manner.  With this guy in the story, it looks like we may get more of that.  Answering the question of how he would initiate combat without tricking a soul out of them, he seemed to trick Jotaro into punching a certain way and dodged it preemptively.  With this, he dragged Jotaro, Joseph, and Kakyoin into his world, presumably one that, to escape, they have to beat D’arby in a game.

This D’arby was chosen by Dio, he seems to suggest he doesn’t rely on cheating and he has bad luck.  Does this go to say he’s a master strategist like Joseph Joestar when he was at his peak?  Regardless, I also found it interesting that with D’arby suggesting the loser is the evil one in history, that is the second time this has been brought up verbatim, with Kakyoin under flesh bud possession stating: “The side which survives is good, and how they do it is besides the point. The loser is the evil one.”  This is an idea that has been explicitly echoed to us.  In a way, this could reflect Dio.  He was the winner with his conflict against Jonathan, it was a delayed win, but he survived and got what he wanted, Jonathan’s body, whereas Jonathan died.

Saying your bet aloud on purpose to narrow down your opponent's by having them chose the other one as their next move is a very simple yet effective tactic. Jotaro's so shook that he fell for it kek
