Polnareff wasn’t taken over, but this has been another Polnareff-centric arc. Not that I’m complaining! I was actually very interested in Anubis. I had at first assumed it was, in a sense, honourable like Polnareff is with how Chaka challenged him to a duel. If that was the case, it led to some interesting implications. If Anubis was being left with non-stand users as meat-shields then this contradicted that concept of honour. The real user would be sitting in a cafe, letting other people risk their lives without putting his life on the table, the definition of shady and slimy. I suppose if Anubis has no stand user counterpart, while I do think it does, an honourable stand using other people as unlimited bodies could be on a conquest to become the greatest sword. I went so far to wonder if Polnareff and Anubis could share a sort of bond…
Rather here, the barber being controlled used underhanded methods and tried to assassinate the defenseless Polnareff. I can’t blame Anubis for that one, Polnareff was asking for it, but it goes against that first reading I had. Perhaps the honourable duel was to get a good showcasing of his attacks to be more prepared next time. Along with this, Anubis did seem to attempt brainwashing Polnareff so losing could be the best method for that; putting his guard down. Or maybe, like Dio’s flesh buds, the user retains some control and personality. It’s definitely curious.
Also Joseph wondering if Polnareff stepped in poop reminded me of when he told ACDC that the only time he moves out of the way is if he’s about to step in poop. Heheheh.
