Decent fight so far. It's a bit unpredictable for now especially with that shining sword..

Kakyoin had it worse than Caesar did back in the day, but he’ll be fine.  He’s going to heal over the course of a few days and catch back up with them which puts him at risk, but also continues a fun theme of mixing the party.  Oingo Boingo had Joseph and Polnareff alone unknowingly with a great car scene, and now Kakyoin is missing!  It gives room for new character interactions.  As for this new arc, the color scheme and art is beautiful… especially the panels of the Nile.

And following the Egyptian gods formula, we’re continuing to get much screen time with the new antagonist.  Oingo and Boingo did this to an extreme, at least relevant to what came before, and it seems Chaka and Anubis follow the practice of a chapter dedicated to them too.  And as for the new antagonist, I like the concept!  The meek and quiet son of a jerk for a father has found a sword that chose Chaka alone as worthy.  A sword that is the manifestation of the god Anubis, one which made a visible change on Chaka as it spoke to him and made a deal.  A deal that Chaka would be the strongest person if he became the body for Anubis.  It’s pretty badass and comes off like a myth.

The power that is created interestingly emulated Zeppeli’s first showing of hamon.  It seems Araki uses animals as collateral or lack thereof, by Zeppeli punching through the frog or Chaka cutting through the cow and being unharmed we can see the control they have.  It’s like an extreme of the notion of the swordsman who cuts what and only what they want to, all outside of that being unharmed.  It does also suggest this stand isn’t reckless!  Perhaps evoking some Cars, a villain who intentionally avoids unnecessary damage to living things.

Anubis also creates questions.  Stands were said to be a projection of life energy, yet Anubis has suggested it lacked a body.  So, whose life energy has created the stand?  Is this someone else’s stand manipulating an outsider, or is this an exception to the rule?  Either way, it’s definitely interesting.

Also, Iggy fits so well into group panels, he looks adorable in them.

Kakyoin's okay but blind for the moment, oof.

Anubis is quite a sharp blade and he's a really peculiar independent Stand who's very aware that it has no real user.
