The novel, for the most part, appears ordinary. It starts with a promising beginning but becomes commonplace as the story progresses, mainly due to the predictability of the first plot. With each page read, the enthusiasm diminishes, and the narrative takes on a repetitive tone, indicating a simplistic storyline. It is evident that the author relies on recycled ideas, and the novel lacks innovation. The writing quality is not bad compared to most Japanese novels, and the translation is very understandable. Additionally, the protagonist was not likable to me, as the saying that "years shape a person" does not apply to him. Despite being over 100 years old, he behaves like a teenager, and the author attempts to justify this with unconvincing explanations.
