Kakyoin stating: “it’s time for payback… baby” reminded me of Zeppeli’s “hey, baby!” Kakyoin caught wind of how to bring his stand into the dream world and made sure to protect the friends who couldn’t believe him, but like we knew from the way the world restrained the boys earlier, it wouldn’t be as easy as that. The baby put up a fight using a cloud-fist to cut both Death 13 and Hierophant Green in half because Death 13 didn’t have a real body; but it didn’t hit Hierophant Green either. Instead, Hierophant Green climbed into a stand like it did to the school nurse! I didn’t expect that, and it was super cool. I’m glad to see it doing that technique again, it was one of its most interesting powers.
After holding the baby hostage and forcing it to heal his wounds, Kakyoin used that head of his. Instead of trying to convince the forgetful allies of his, he simply used their ignorance against the baby. He learned he can’t fight it physically so instead… he fed it its own poop. I’ll be honest, I was incredibly scared for Polnareff’s sake. I was imagining Joseph feeding him again. Luckily, only the baby ate its poop as a deterrent from doing this kind of thing again. Somehow, it feels even more brutal than hurting it. Kakyoin can be quite the demon!!
Also, the baby smoking reminded me of the monkey smoking back in Strength. It felt fitting when it came to two of the most unexpected stand users to date.
I'd say this arc was most similar to Justice. While lacking the narrative weight Justice held, utilizing both Enya and Hol Horse, Death 13 is a wonderful showcasing of character, comedy, a creative power, and a satisfying rule of cool finish.
