I understand the tone of this part is very intentional, therefore to criticize it, somewhat like I began Battle Tendency doing, without riding it out is misguided. Yet without being resolved on this, I would still like to voice some annoyance. Despite Abdul's unexpected dying to two villains in one brief moment; J. Geil was built up as the crux of Polnareff’s mission. It wasn’t just a nobody like Wheel of Fortune who bested one of the boys. Therefore, I can’t help but find some of these fights, those which are most uninteresting to me, to be some of the lowest points I’ve read in Jojo’s. We know the guys will almost lose to some idiot and then say ‘yare yare daze’ and kick their ass. That said, it’s double sided. None of these lasts that long and we know, even if we’re bored, the next arc will be completely different and may entice us. That means this is hardly an issue, just a nitpick, especially taking in account that this is all going together to build a tone unique to Stardust Crusaders.
But, it’s not like this was awful. I definitely enjoyed everything preceding the collision between the cars. And here, I found the navigation of the terrain to be a fun touch, the runaway playing damsel in distress for Jotaro cute, everyone saving Jotaro to be a good bro moment. I also found it charming how this car reminded me of a certain Dio Brando, by walking(or riding) up walls, having control of their body to an inhuman extent, and in shooting projectiles that are kind of lame when you spell it out as gasoline launching or high velocity eye juice beams. And we did get Street Fighter on it, ora ora ora ora ora ora ora ora ora!!!
