The other review is fairly accurate. The story starts out slow, picks up around ch50, and (from an outsider's view) the MC has a Japanese personality that I find difficult to understand at times. The most egregious example is, minor spoiler, Spoiler
when the daughter of a count in a rival political block tortures him and attempts to kill him in the woods. Later, when he's safe at the academy, he still kowtows to her in apology for "being rude" when the academy says it's not necessary, and thinks he can't refuse when she demands he become her s*ave (essentially). He never reports her to the academy, the Adventurer's Guild, or his father. I can't think of any Westerner doing that.
[collapse]The big problem I have isn't with the author, but the "translator." It starts out with human translation, quite good, but a bit before ch 50 it switches to pure MTL. Names, including the MC's are inconsistent. Genders flop around constantly, one secondary character in the Academy Arc is still ambiguous to me even after 45 chapters. I lose track of what is going on because I can't figure out who did/said what. Chapters should NEVER be posted without a human doing SOME editing first.
