@gfsdfgsdgsdfgs Zut, I always interpreted "we can talk underwater with our stands" as it just being derivative of their ESP nature (as in: the talk is done through Stand/mind power, aka telepathy). ^^"

Good to see that the Stand's user isn't superhuman in his underwater performance.

With energy-sapping barnacles, a whirlpool of razor-sharp scales, and the cutting ability and speed of Dark Blue Moon, it looked very unlikely that Jotaro would get out of this fight alive but all of that meant nothing when he got the fingers out with a stretch.

Jotaro was covered in barnacles zapping away his strength and placed in a whirlpool of razor sharp scales which hurt him and stopped anyone from coming to save him.  But apart from the lines about Dark Blue Moon holding his breath an impressive but incredibly human amount of time which made me laugh, or Jotaro’s final line about the dude pissing himself as he beats him to death blowing my mind, I found Kakyoin interesting.  There is a pattern here, Kakyoin is often the first one to attempt saving Jotaro.  Twice here against Dark Blue Moon, one could argue this is because his stand is long reaching, but I like to also think it’s him wanting to pay Jotaro back for saving his own life.

So yeah, stand users can speak and fight underwater which may denote a harsh separation from hamon limitations, but just like his great grandfather Jonathan, he was able to tough it out underwater.  His method however was one of waiting for a time to strike and using all of his remaining power to slice Dark Blue Moon’s head in half.  This kind of thinking reminds me of Jonathan more than Joseph.  That is, the quick thinking and courage to deal with the immediate such as swimming to the bottom of the water to get a bubble of air or lighting his fist on fire to fight against Dio's ice.  It's not so much the 10 steps ahead that Joseph was a master of, that said, Jotaro also showed off some of Joseph's school of thought by tricking the sailors into uncovering which was the stand user.  In this way Jotaro is a cool mix of Jonathan and Joseph in his fighting prowess.
