Hi guys.
Here's my question.

Is it wrong of me to expect mc to simply kill or beat the crap out of people When they bad-mouth or harass him?
Or am i simply reading too much of cultivation novels.

Sorry for the bad English.

*Excerpt of An Interview with Mob A*
Mob A: Beating or killing someone just because they badmouthed or harrassed MCs seemed excessive retribution of justice for me. it is kinda scary. What if I disliked someone and voiced my displeasure, that person would beating the craps outa me or outright kill me. I'd prefer to have the right to speak my minds without being killed.
Surely, each place has its own acceptable practices, and locals should do their best to act in accordance if they wished for continuous good health. Still, I would say such places with the laws of jungle would be very bad for my mental health, having to constantly shut my mouth, watch my back, never know when incidences would happen just by walking outside. I'd definitely not fancy living in any cultivation novel worlds.... *interview interrupted abruptly, Mob A was hit by lightnings from tribulation thunderstorm suddenly appeared out of nowhere*

Well then you will just have to get rid of all 81 generations of the family!

Beat the crap out of them or kill them? That's def. wrong. I guess u don't read enuf cultivation novels.

To be recognized as the real deal, the MC is expected to kill their nine generations; even their chickens and dogs shouldn't be spared.

It's not wrong. Just go with the flow.

agree, its unrealistic, perhaps looks good when we read but deep-down we know its not the solution either

That depends on the story and what kind of person the MC is (and what they did to harass and/or bad-mouth MC). If it bothers you read some japanese or korean novels to try to turn it around.

Just don't bring that mindset with you IRL and everything should work out.

Clearly you did not read what I said.
Cops may not exist in the novel, but there are groups similar to cops.
Murder may be condoned in the novel, but there are spiritual forces that enforce punishment on murderers.
If you're the MC, hope you're an OP MC, because if not, then just killing pests left and right anytime in anyplace will just invite more bigger pests.

In short, kill if you're willing to accept the consequences of your action. Some MC do that, others don't. It's that simple, but of course, sometimes the author forgets to add the consequences of murder in their novels.

I don't think it's wrong, but more unrealistic. I suffer from the same problem. I liked CN novels so much because they were such a breath of fresh air from JP novel protagonists. I now cannot enjoy JP novels as much as I used to. But it also means that I cannot enjoy some good series as much either.

They're only protected by their God, the Writer and his Blessing known as Plot Armor. I swear, if the MC encountered ANY actual competent people, they would die not knowing how they befell such a fate. Because those of competence don't need to lift their fingers and just need to put the MC in an un-survivable situation without any chances like such as being able to take control of said energy or being able to wrest control of an artifact away from its user or gain access to a new energy source or give them time to run away.
