The MC s memory was sealed/given up. However, it's effects and remained, like an echo of sorts. So, when the weapon spirit teaches him the song, he instantly picks it up, both as a spell and a language. This is shown throughout season 1 and multiple ppl remark on his song/chant spell casting abilities.

In the end of season 1, to save his senior, the reaper/dead-souls-keeper asks for him to give up his spell casting/song/chant ability forever. The MC does so as he says it's something he shouldn't have had in the first place (as the memories are inherited and not his own). So, he is giving up something that was never his in the exchange and thinks the exchange one-sidedly beneficial.

I started reading this today, I've been stacking chapters in forget mode since 2014 when the first chapter was released on japtem (time flies) and now I see its dropped since 2 years (this forget mode stacking chapter system is faulty lol) anyway the story is refreshing even tho you can really feel that the author is female at least I do.

Also can someone please tell her that making side characters smash mc head repetitively all through the story only work in manga with the picture aiding to the humor, in this case it just feel like his sister is constantly bullying the shit out him.

Also that lead me to understand why this novel didn't rise in popularity as its a real contrast between this MC and other CN's MC, unless you're really bored of the cliche stories like me you will feel reluctant to follow the journey of a clown mc that has no goal and kowtow to a gothic guy the first time he see and believe him to be the death god (facepalm)

edit: mah god he still didn't figure out the cellphones are the same for everybody (facepalm harder) this mc might be as dense as some jap mc...no wonder the story didn't soar in popularity...... 

His thoughts that time were along the lines of "it's not gonna get any better so better get it over with quickly."
Almost seems like his has given up on the 'safety/normalcy' of his life...

Being the same mortimer (lol, the name always reminds me of Micky Mouse), yet somehow more... Mature(?).. 

...um, kind of... spoil the story, it's related to his family's background... 

i'm confused ....did the mc gave up/sealed his memory for his senior?....or was it a past memory that was part of his powers? 

oh....whats the diffrence between the academies? ....also how does he find out about his sister? (like does he visit her accademy/they meet at someplace by accident/his senior tell him)
