Yes he finally died in 130+ or 140+ch near ending (forgot hehe). He was killed by the sect master (yes his own martial brother..) in the broken cliff while protecting MC. But don't worry it's just temporary (i almost dropped this book tho QAQ). But MC's reaction is very heartbreaking, i suggest to prepare a box or more tissues
