Having lost my job, I struggled with finding another party until one day a beautiful woman appeared before me telling she had a job for me. Impressed that her abilities were at a value higher than my former comrades, I ended up taking the interview before hearing what the job entailed. In deepest part of the dungeon with the highest difficulty, the demon lord's castle, one of the Four Devas was waiting for me. This is the story of the black mage who was expelled from the heroes party as he enters into the demon lord's army and repels the heroes.

Yay Vol.3 spoilers ^^/ This is a long one because there's a crap ton of charas ;; The premise of this volume is that there's gonna be a raid battle so that's why there's so many charas this time
#1 hero party: Aerial (Storm Hero), Masamune (sword master/warrior, husband of Panacare, uses a katana), Yuan/Ewan (Gale/Wind Hero, just finished hero school/institution, about 13 yrs old, has green hair, the one who replaced Panacare after she retired, has a crush on Bella from the 4th party), the other two I can't remember much but they were probably magicians or alchemists (they had a lesser role for I can barely remember them ^^; ) #3 hero party: Heruva/Helvor (Hero of the Magic Sword, is a rough big muscled lady who likes to fight rough or with her fists, has great healing/regenerative skills because her ancestors bathed in the blood of dragons, her sword is magical and is passed down from her family (that's why she is called the hero of the magic sword), she is the hero that Nichola from Vol.2 admires), Margaret (summoner, she can summon beasts like a bear, she can summon equipment and other items at any point in time when it is needed, is the daughter of a big rich company, is quite smart and is the brain cell of the group, likes to collect rare items and lets her party members use it when going through dungeons), ugh I can't remember much of the other 3 but I know that one of them was a gunner (owns a huge ass gun/bazooka), and all members of the 3rd hero party are women. #5 hero party: Sukaha/Scaha (Hero of the Thunder, can control lightning, his spirit is a subspirit/fragment of the wind spirit, his party is known for capturing dungeon layers quickly), Suri (hunter/archer, is actually an elf but hides his identity by wearing a hood to hide his face, he is a fellow disciple of Kamihaya technique with Lily from the 4th hero party, Lily is angry at him because he chose to hide his elf race instead to showing it), Theo (magician??, he can spread thread from his fingers to use for magic, tends to speak a lot which makes Wraith get annoyed by it), Hamiru/Hamil (sword warrior), and Karina (hunter/archer, disciple of Suri, one of the 3 known adventurers to use Kamihaya technique, super weak and dies immediately from the first layer). Wraith/Race: Lake/Water hero, 10 yrs old, has deep blue hair and eyes, the water spirit (name is Undine, one of the 4 great spirits) takes a liking of him but Wraith refuses to contracts with him, godfather/non-blood related uncle/teacher/master is Aerial, is taught wind and water magic at a young age before he was known to be a hero class, his dad (name is Altreat) used to be #1 hero until Aerial's party overthrew him and then retired from adventure and dungeons because his wife was pregnant and wanted to take care of his family, feels remorse that his dad gave up on being a hero because of him, wants to be the #1 hero without using spirits so that he can take revenge on those people who badmouthed his dad for retiring (his dad was actually a hero who had no spirits who liked him and couldn't use ajy spiritism, but he still ended being the #1 hero for a year because of his determination, and he became known for his line "a hero always wins at the end" which made Reme aspire to be a hero in the first place). Fran: childhood friend of Wraith, is the only known member of Wraith's party, has white hair with red eyes, wears cute clothes and she looks like a doll, she is actually a "destroyer", her arm (I forgot which) is actually a big black arm that can destroy things at a large scale, she hides her arm by wearing a big cloak, she can't eat well because of her arm so Wraith helps her, she follows Wraith wherever he goes. 1st Layer: Hell area Boss: Helldog (forgot his name, has 3 heads, can control fire) Sub-leader/Subordinate: Gra (forgot hus full name, can make people invisible)
2nd layer: zombie/undead area Boss: the necromancer dude (forgot his name, uses the dead avatars of adventurers to fight and likes to put them in his collection, he took over Bella's dead avatar in Vol.1) Subordinate: Leraje (demon hunter/archer, the one who defeated Lily in Vol.1, is good at shooting but is not a combat person)
3rd layer: vampire area Boss: Calmira (her casual name is Mira, the love interest and a big fan of Reme, vampire queen, one of the Shitenno (4 great demon kings?/ 4 heavenly demons?? I can't japanese ;_; ), can manipulate her own blood/the blood that she sucked from other people, the blood can form to many things like thorns, can't control other people's blood unless she sucked it or her subordinates sucked it and give it to her, can also control bats and leeches, has sadistic tendencies, tends to get very emotional when it comes to Reme, her layer is the basic stop for most parties and they usually cannot go to the next layer unless you're a really good party) Subordinate: Hagenti (vampire, has masochistic tendencies, likes to get punished by Calmira, wants to suck Calmira's blood, used as a chair by Calmira)
4th layer: Werewolf layer Boss: (forgot the name sorry ;; ), (is the werewolf head, is huge, eh you get the gist, his layer gets broken down is easily everytime so he's not that memorable)
5th layer: Yumema layer (I don't know what kind of demon that is but that's the description ;; ) Boss: Sitley/Shitley (Demon of love, one of the Shitenno, is a subbeast leopard, has the ability to transform to any person and can use a small bit of their abilities, likes cute things so she wears a maid outfit, she also gave Cashew (Reme's subbeast dog secretary) a cute maid uniform because she thought she was cute ^^)
6th layer: Aquatic demon layer Boss: Wepar (a mermaid, is a monster nerd and likes to watch dungeon videos to observe different monsters) Subordinate: Forneus (subbeast shark, has been working for Maoujo since before Lucy's reign, he's one of the very few to have stayed working on Maoujo since Fero left the castle, he's one of the older staff since most of the staff currently are younger people, he tends to eat adventurers and try to drown them inside his stomach) 7th layer: Air/ Winged or Bird Demon layer Boss: Caim/Kaim (has the body of a bird, wears hat and a cane, his layer is a quiz battle, eh not very memorable) Subordinate: (Caim has a sub-boss but I forgot who he was and what he does but his name started with an "R", also not very memorable)
8th layer: Knight demon/Ryujin (Dragon race people) layer Boss: Fukurasu/Fucuras (one of the Shitenno, can control Ryujin, wears a big black armor, uses an spear that can extend and change shape even when cut, her armor is special because it has a seat inside and needs a special key to move (actually the key is not really a key but the owner and she can lend it to others if she wants to), without the armor she looks like a small petite human girl, she not actually human but is really an ogre/oni with no magical powers, she tends to eat a lot of food because she needs the energy from it because she is an oni, because she is so small she can fit through the different parts of armor and maneuver the armor there (like the arm or the leg of the armor), she taught Reme how to wield a sword in Vol.2 and also fought together with Orobus against Reme and Berito in the tag tournament in Vol.2)
9th layer: spacetime layer Boss: Agareth (one of the Shitenno, his layer has large watches all over, can move in to places quickly, can separate pieces of his body in his different places/spaces (it's fine because he's still in one piece), uses a lot of majin (mages/magic users) for his layer)
10th layer: Demon hero layer (layer that uses the power of every demon of the castle to win at in the end) Boss: Remegeton (Reme's demon name, known as the Demon of the Devil horn because of his one decoration horn from his avatar and because of his other special horn he got from Lucifer, wears a mask and big cloak hood to hide his real identity, has great enormous amount of magical power even without releasing his horn, not only is he a great black mage but can also pack a punch (he managed to pierce Phoenix's chest last Vol.1l, has a ring he got from Lucy that can contract with 72 people, has managed to contract and summon every boss and subboss in the castle (including the Demon king Lucy) plus more from friends, his layer system works in that the party must face all of his summonings first and only then he can face the opponents and fight, his main job is to make sure no one can go to the demon king and that the castle stays impregnable, is currently lacking magical power because he used all of the horn's magical powers because of his with Phoenix last Vol.1, chose to hire some subordinates with the motivation of "defeating the hero" so that he can lessen the burden of summoning) Subordinates: Boris/Botis (this is her demob name (forgot her actual name), a lamia, upperbody is human but the lower body is a snake, has the ability to petrify someone to stone, was kicked out of her old dungeon workplace because she was strong that no one wanted to challenge it anymore), Amucidias (can't spell his name right, he is a unicorn, has a spiral horn in the middle of his head, has to ability to change between human form and horseman form, his skill is "trainer", he has the unusual ability to train plants called "Arlaune" and obey his commands), the last one (I forgot his name) is a minotaur/cowman (he is a black mage like Reme, but unlike Reme he has no master, so basically he taught himself to learn black magic, Reme has been helping him in his training since he became his subordinate) Temporary subordinates: the 95th hero party Erie/Ellie (bold hero, her spiritism is wind which she uses to attack fast and create mirages/illusions when attacking, her party members consists of 2 black mages and 2 white mages, her party has the remaining 2 black mages that was in the 100th place parties including Reme when he was in 4th place party, her party style is basically that the 2 black mages debuff her enemies and the 2 white mages enhance her abilities while they stand behind her when she fights, she's basically the only one who fights in her party ajd she likes ut because she likes tge spotlight (that's why she's calles the bold hero), she joined as a temporary subordinate staff of Remegeton because she "wanted to defeat the hero" (she just wanted to fight against Aerial), she calls a nickname to Remegeton "Remen" because she thinks his name is too long and that he refuses to be called Reme)
Current demon king: Lucy (she is a small girl with red hair and 2 horns, daugther of Fero, granddaugther of Lucifer, current owner/master of the demon king castle, is in a hate-love relationship with her dad, she also has made a contract with Remegeton and was able to be summoned by him at the final battle (more details on that on future spoilers) Bennou: Phoenix's demon avatar, known as the "Immortal Demon", he has blue hair and wears a mask to hide his face, he was asked by Reme for help on the raid battle because his party wasn't participating in it, he uses blue flames here instead of his usual, he has perfectly finished training with Sara (the fire spirit's name) and uses his "assimilation" (his body can turn to flame and no one can hurt/damage him physically). Strass: Lily's demon avatar, she is known as a demon hunter/archer, she was asked by Reme to join the raid, she agreed because she wanted to fight against Suri (hunter/archer of 5th hero party), she holds a grudge against Suri because she knows that he is a fellow disciple of Kamihaya but chooses to hide it and hides the fact that he is an elf, she promises to defeat him. Berito/Verito/Bellito: Nikola's demon avatar, she loses the bug demon costume that she used last Vol.2, her fighting style is rough, muddy play using giant arms made of silver to attack in a boxing type match, her fighting style is inspired by the 3rd hero Helvor because of her fistfight style. She was asked by Reme to participate in the raid. Her brother allowed her to go because it would be a good experience to go against the 3rd hero Helvor. She is very excited to fight against Helvor. And also she feels indebted to Reme. Thor: (I forgot his demon name ;; ), he is an orc with green skin and a big upper body, ever since Reme visited his dungeon and helped him in Vol.2 he has been greatly indebted to him (also he still owes Reme money for lending him reward money for the parties that go to his dungeon at that time), he has also trained himself in black magic since Vol.2 and was there when Nikola's party challenged his dungeon. Orobus: (this is her demon name, but I forgot her actual name), she is a centaur (human upperbody, horse lowerbody), childhood friend of Thor, calls Thor a pig despite him being the dungeon master, she is Thor's assistant, I think she uses arrows to fight?? (I forgot Vol.2 details ;; ), she fought together with Furucas in the tag tournament. Also yay, no Aruba in this volume. Also no Lark here too. Let me know if I missed anyone! I'll start spoilers about the plot soon! (I need a breather, this took longer to write down than expected huhu~)

Don't play much online games so I dunno how big of a cheat if the revive was that common (its 10 floors + Lucy throne room, should've been only 3 times since Mira was practically the first stage where one originally needed to have a competent party and beating the 9th floor would make it have some suspense since its the room before the BIG boss, gotta make that revive count)
this is the only thread I found talking about this story ( and I'm so glad everything is under spoiler tags since I just started to read it after letting the chaps build up a good bit). That said I'm very glad to see he gets back at the jerk in the second chapter, but I had to say if it was me I'd have debuffed him before I left then broke his nose then said "see it works just fine" before leaving him half dead ... maybe I read too many revenge stories for the last bit (or want to be but have little to do with...)
I gotchu, it's pretty good how MC gets back at him. I honestly can't wait to see this chapter in the manga ver!
Basically when Phoenix and his team go onto capture the 10th floor (MC's floor) they run into battle w/ him. Alvar is still a dumb rock what a surprise. He tries to attack MC however MC uses his black magic to guide the extended sword to orbit back towards Alvar. As a result, Alvar loses an arm and to rub salt in his wound Mira says that his blood isn't worth tasting since it's prob too watery.
However, it doesn't end there. After a rescue attempt by Bella fails, Alvar is stuck w/ MC behind an ice wall that Bella had to put up momentarily. The sword that Alvar uses can be used by anyone and MC knows how that sword works. So by the time his team reforms Alvar has been stabbed in the abdomen by his own sword and before Luck (Holy Knight) can reach him the bats drain Alvar of his blood.
Vol.3 continued! I'll try to keep it short since the one that needs most attention is the last layer battle ^^
Layer 1: Everyone is there. There are many invisible enemies because of Gra (subboss). There are also several black youths. They suspect that someone planned this from the start (probably Remegeton) because their movemebt is unusual and black youths are present and that the one who plannes this is very smart. Theo (the thread magician in the 5th hero party) release his thread ao that he can find the invisible enemies and attack the black youth at the same time. Unexpectedly, his thread goes on fire and severely burns his fingers. They wer shocked because the thread is magic proof. They find out that the black youth that got caught in the thread was coated with gas and they just used fire magic to make it flame. Wraith shouts to Theo that he should just cut his fingers so that the fire doesn't spread to his body and kill him. Theo cuts his fingers and is currently useless. Karina (also from 5th party, magic shooter/archer, Suri's disciple) gets stabbed in the neck by a knife. She dies. Someone else also dies but I forgot who ^^; (was either Yuan (Gale hero) from 1st party or the warrior lady from 3rd party). Basically, this battle focuses on the 5th party. Scaha (#5 hero, thunder hero) releases lightning and kills the black youth and the invisible enemies. He also decapitates Helldog's 3 heads. Remaning adventurers left: 15/17.
After 1st layer battle, Aerial invites MC again to a bar to meet with Altreat (Wraith's dad). Altreat was interested in meeting MC because his son as well as Aerial has taken an interest in him. MC stares at him and Altreat says that Wraith got his mother's looks. MC tells Altreat that he knows why Wraith joined this battle. Altreat says that he does not regret his decision to retire from hero work. MC tells him that the only way Wraith can understand that there is a diff way (because he refuses to listen) is that he loses. Altreats laughs and says "what kind of father wants his son to lose". Anyways, after that, MC leaves and meets with Phoenix outside.
2nd layer: Can't remember much because they kinda cleared it quickly. But the battle focuses on Wraith and Fran. Another one dies (was either Yuan (Gale hero) from 1st party or the warrior lady from 3rd party). Remaining adventurers left: 14/17, obtained a revive
3rd layer: The layer is a big ass forest filled with many bats and vampires ambushing you. The hero parties need to go to the end of the forest where there is a mansion where Calmira (boss) will be there. Hagenti (subboss) is specially motivated to defeat them because Calmira promised that she will let her suck her blood if she defeats a hero. Hagenti and Helvor fought agaisnt each other and Helvor was escpecially having fun fighting her. Alas, Hagenti dies and the hero parties reach the mansion. They are greeted by a butler and several maids. The butler explains that they must first a rusted candlestick, a candle, a black flame, and a map that will lead to a key that will open the final room that Calmira is sleeping in her coffin. The 4 hero parties split and look for the items in the 4 rooms while avoiding traps. Anyways, they find the items and open the final room. Instead of sleeping, Calmira is seen outside her coffin and is awake. Helvor is excited to fight Calmira because of her great fight with Hagenti. Calmira immediately attacks and surrounds them with blood that took the shape of thorns and swords. All of the 3rd party members except Helvor dies. Everyone else was able to protect themselves. They were shocked by the sudden attack, not only that, they were shocked by how much blood she could control. After all, she can only control her own blood and she couldn't have gotten that much blood just fron her own. They suspect that she had let her bats suck blood for her. It was revealed that there were also leeches all over the forest and sucked their blood as well. The leeches could only suck so little so the adventurers barely noticed. Still, they suspect that she couldn't have gotten this much blood from her subordinates for that short amount of time. It was revealed that she has been collecting blood since 2 years ago (since she joined the Maoujo) and has been experimenting on controlling this much blood since then. They are impressed but Helvor keeps on attacking her nonstop. Helvor lost her arm and leg. Calmira was about to cornered and almost dead, but then she moved behind Helvor and bit her neck to suck her blood. Helvor's body is dissipating and she laughs that Calmira is very fun to fight and that she wants to fight her again. Helvor dies. Calmira also starts dissipating shortly after. Remaining adventurers: 10/17, 3rd hero party is eliminated, they use the revive on Yuan from the 1st party for the next battle.
4th layer: Eh not much I can say since Marcosias (boss) and hia werewolf subordinates got demolished easily by the hero party. But I do know that the focus on this battle is the 1st party (that's why they chose to revive Yuan because he is from the 1st party). Marcosias then reports to MC and how he's ashamed that he lost so quickly and without even killing a single adventurer. Remaining adventurers: 11/17, obtained a revive
5th layer: Sitley's (boss) layer is filled with many mumas (dunno what kind demons they are ;; ) and they are all women wearing maid outfits. The layer is in a supposed to look like a cafe with the mumas saying "welcome back master~" (so it's a maid cafe). Masamune (swordmaster) gets hit by charm by the mumas and get distracted. Rui (alchemist from 1st party) says that he'll tell Panacare about this. Masamune says please don't (he is Panacare's husband). Anyways, Scaha deals with them by spreading lightning everywhere and killing evey muma there. Sitley was there but she wasn't as cute as she normally would. She saw the Calmira from layer 3 was serious so she also wanted to be serious. She was able to kill 2 people (Theo from 5th party, and Masamune from the 1st party). She attacked them by changing her form and transforming to many different people. She transformed into Remegeton and was able to use a bit of his powers like black magic and the black youth. At first, they were shocked because an upper layer boss demon can't appear in the lower layers (only the lower layer demons can appear in the upper layers, that's why MC can summon them in the 10th layer). They realize that it was just Sitley transforming. She is also able to transform a part of her body as different people as well, like can transform a werewolf on her arm. Wraith and Aerial became interested in fighting her seriously because she was transforming as Remegeton, the only demon boss that hasn't been defeated yet. Alas, she died and Wraith was like "aww I wanted to fight Remegeton more~". Remaining adventurers: 9/17, uses revive on Helvor for the next battle
6th layer: The layer is like a maze, choose the right path and fight the monsters along the way. Forneus (subboss) manages to eat Fran, but Fran was able to destroy Forneus from the inside and kill him. Anyways, they get to Wepar (boss), Scaha kills her with the lightning. Remaining adventurers: 10/17, obtains a revive, uses revive on Margaret (summoner from 3rd party) for the next battle
7th layer: The layer is a quiz layer. Answer the puzzles and riddles and then you can fight Kaim (boss). They revived Margaret because she is smart and could summon items that she needed for answering the riddle. Anyways, she solves it and they fight Caim and he dies. Remaining adventurers: 11/17 (damn no one died for 3 layers)
Lily and Phoenix visits MC's dorm. Mira welcomes them and makes tea. They was unsure of them visiting because the dorm is for demons of the Maoujo and they are adventurers. MC says it's fine. Phoenix gives MC the look of "wink wink nudge nudge" between him and Mira if you know what I mean . The four talk and then Mira asks Phoenix about what MC was like in the past. MC stops Phoenix before he can say anything, Mira pouts. Mira then gets all passive aggresive with Lily for also casting MC out of the party (she kinda did the same thing to Phoenix when she and him met). Reme stops her by saying that he is greatful for leaving the party because he got to meet Mira and got to have his current job because of her. Mira blushes and finishes making tea. Phoenix gives MC the face again haha. Lily also leans on MC's ear to say thank you for defending her. Then, a knife swiftly cuts between the two. It was a actually a blood knife that Mira threw. Lily and Phoenix then moves to the couch opposite of MC (they got scared haha ). Mira finished making tea and sat next to MC. MC talked to both Phoenix and Lily that he wanted to fight together as demon in the raid battle. Phoenix already agreed and he already has an avatar. Lily also agrees since she wants to fight Suri (the hunter/archer from 5th party). She knows that Suri is a fellow disciple back in her home forest and that he is also an elf. She is angry at him because he choosea to hide his race instead to showing it proudly like Lily. She promises to defeat him. Cut back to reality, it's late. So Mira decides to make dinner for the 4 of them. She asks Lily to help her cook since she was basically the one who cooked for their party back then. She asks Lily what kind of food MC likes to eat qnd says that she is willing to give good money for it. Lily says that she will try to remember and will tell her when she needs the money. The two girls talk and cook the food. Phoenix again makes the face and kinda teases MC with his relationship with Mira.
8th layer: The layer is like a door maze, there 2-3 doors and behind some of the doors are Ryuto/Ryujin (dragon race). You have chose the right door and defeat the Ryuto. If you defeat 5 Ryuto, you can face Fucuras (boss). When they finally faced Fucuras, Aerial shouts and says hey to her. Fucuras doesn't remember him but he was one of the mic on the tag tournament that she participated in last vol.2. Aerial has been excited to fight against her since then. The remaining adventurers understands Aerial's wish to fight her alone, so they fight the dragons that were there. After finishing the dragons, they help Aerial on fighting Furucas. Furucas was able to stab Michelle (mage/witch from 1st party) and she dies. They all try to crush or stab her in her armor, but since she's so small and her armor is so big, she can fit through every part of the armor without getting hurt. She exits her armor through the elbow part and fights them. She can also control her armor without her having to be inside of it (kinda like a remote cintrol). She aims at Yuan but Scaha defends him and ends up dying. Aerial was the one who ended up killing Furucas. Remaining adventurers: 9/17, obtains a revive, uses revive on Scaha on the next battle
9th layer: The layer has no definite space but there are several clocka ppaced everywhere. Agareth (boss) hired several majin (mages) from other dungeons. One of the majins was able to take the space of his hands to grab the heads of Michelle (magician/witch from 1st party) and Rui (alchemist from 1st party) and squished it and they die. Agareth is able to move behind people using space magic. Yuan tries to make an airbox to trap but ultimately ends up trapped in it instead because Agareth changed places with him. He can move the spaces of parts of his body and not die because technically he is still conected in a different space. He can also control meteors and other space things. Aerial was the one who killed him in the end becausr he used "sky garden". A technique where he can cut and move space through wind magic (can make blocks of space by using wind. He cut up Agareth's using this technique. Aerial says that he is impressed because ue hasn't used this technique in over 20 years. Remaining adventurers: 8/17 1st hero party: Aerial, Yuan 3rd hero party: only Helvor 5th hero party: Scaha, Suri, Hamil And Wraith and Fran Whew! That was a long one! I will continue on the 10th layer battle tomorrow! The fight was really awesome ^^
So Scaha tried to capture Lucy using lightning. Too bad for him he got attacked and died. Lucy left. Benou and Wraith kept fighting. Benou kept on pestering Wraith to makr a contract with his spirit. Wraith refuses at first, but then Benou points out Fran who was missing an arm but still kept on fighting for Wraith. She dies btw from Ronowe and Orobus. Wraith immediately feels bad and now finally understands of how stupid his actions are (because even though he has the power, he chooses not to use it). So he calls out to Undine (water spirit's name) who was hanging out to watch the whole battle. He says sorry and then asks to contract with him. Undine agrees and contracts with him. Wraith and Benou then go all out and use assimilation (their body is literally made of their element now (Blue flame for Benou, Water for Wraith)). Anyways, Wraith lost the fight. He thanks MC and Phoenix in his mind (He realized their identities ^^). Back to MC and Aerial; so Aerial made the heavenly garden thingy and MC tries to decipher it by using the Arlaunes and and himself to look for the right blocks. He uses Forus as his shield. Anyway, MC got through and Aerial applauds him because he was the first ever to defeat his tecunique. So, Aerial and MC decide to take the battle more seriously. MC releases his horn and Aerial uses the very last of his magical powers to fight. Ugh I can't remember much of the details, but in the end, MC managed to punch Aerial in his gut/chest and blasted him off the wall. (Cool right??) So Helvor and Berito are still throwing hands with each other. After MC managed to throw off Aerial, he asks everyone out to help him. Berito was busy fighting Helvor so MC lent her a hand. He gave a significant amount of magical power from his horn to her and she managed to defeat Helvor. Unfortunately, she got hurt too badly and her avatar died. Can't remember much of the others but I think Eri and her team fought against Yuan?? (Don't quote me on this). And the others pretty much died?? Anyway, only MC and Benou versus Aerial were left. Aerial had already lost all of his magical powers and his magical organs were already broken because of MC's punch. So, he asks his wind spirit (name is Sylpheed) for help. The wind spirit shows up and tremendous amounts of magical power was released in the area. Aerial says that this move has never been seen by others before because the spirit only agrees only if it's really needed, and that this move was specially for Lucifer but he never got the chance to show it to him. Benou offers MC some assistance by covering him with blue flames. MC alao releases the last of his magical power through his horn. Benou and MC go all out with their powers and Aerial doing the same. In the end, the ones who remained were Benou and MC. Aerial's avatar dissipated and the hero team finally lost. YAAYY DEMON STAFF WINS WOOOO!! After the battle, Wraith called out MC again. MC met with Wraith and Fran in a bar/restaurant place. Wraith was feeding Fran. Wraith thanks MC and says that he finally understands what he needs to do. Fran also thanks MC because he was able to get through him while she couldn't. Wraith then asks MC to join his team again. MC denies the request and says that he is happy with his current job. Wraith is all like "awww too bad~" but still insists on MC anyway. After the battle, All hero team participants of the raid battle were asked to do an interview. The 5th hero team's Suri finally decides to reveal his identity to the world. His teammates cheer him on. The 3rd hero party is all happy and such. Wraith , with Fran, tells to the people watching that he is looking 2 more members for his party and that he doesn't care what the race and class is. He says he only needs 2 more members because the last one is already taken (implying that he'll keep on pestering MC to join his party). And finally, the 1st hero team's Aerial said that he plans on challenging again in the future because he doesn't plan on retiring soon. YEAH THAT'S PRETTY MUCH IT :I That's all ^^; Sorry for the almost month long reply ^^; Still haven't read Vol. 4 so I hope someone else can provide spoilers >.<
Honestly, volume 2 felt like a filler arc you'd see in long run anime series haha. It would highlight some issues that the world has like you said about Nicola's party struggling. However, yeah the tournament fight gets boring since they focus on a lot of vanguards. I would say the spectators were entertained this round b/c Reme is known as a black mage/useless so seeing him kick butt was like an overpowered solo. Volume 3 is where it picks up again and is actually important.
Credits to some rough MTL translations/spoilers of @PhoenixStriker5251 at MD MC is WAY more powerful than he appears here. (Powerful as in a melee-battle mage that can freely resummon the other floor bosses at will as well as take on that asshole swordsman himself 1v1) MC has the ability to turn into a one-horned devil, as a result of something Lucifer did. In the war brought about in the previous Demon Lord's reign, the Demon Lord (Lucifer) used dark magics so powerful that he annihilated top adventurer parties single-handedly. (Heck, a veteran member of the Rank 1 party straight up invites Rene to join them when he came near Rene and felt a similar sensation to back then.) It is implied that the government and media are suppressing knowledge about the true strength of dark magic.
The Flame hero (Mc's best friend) was bullied in the past for his dream of becoming a hero, but MC continued to support him even when he (the friend) eventually did get the hero class. The demon girl in this chapter is presumably either the "demon of love" or the vampire queen, two of MC's future comrades. As a demon, Rene goes by the name of "Remegeton" or something like that. After he joins the demons, Rene lives a double life as "Remegeton" (the 10th floor boss and dungeon master) as well as himself, gathering info about upcoming challengers.
The effects of MC's absence in the party quickly becomes apparent, as the other party members seemingly lose proficiency and the viewers wondering if they were "sick" or something. Only the Flame Hero performs somewhat optimally, due to him being the only to really understand Rene's capabilities (and thus knowing what to expect now that he's gone).
MC does eventually fight his former team. He breaks standard dungeon conventions by resummoning all (or most) of the other floor bosses simultaneously, and he combines his magic with strategic commands to capitalize on his old team's weaknesses. Ex: He f*cking baited that a-hole swordsman into using his extending sword, used his enhanced strength to rip the sword straight out of his hands, and then impales the guy with his own sword.
I'm back with more spoilers from reading a few chapters again. This is chapter 28 of the novel. Lmk if you want more spoilers and I can definitely read up more and post~
Takes so many chapters for this dumb trio to realize why their performance sucks. It's their new member (Bella) who questions if they really just think they're sick lol
-Lily and Luck are fully aware of their flaws after their performance has fallen so bad. However they are still lost as to why their performance has fallen. Alvar (a-hole swordsman) is still a dumb rock. They also basically admit that they don't know how black magic really works, thus why they thought MC wasn't doing anything.
-The team also admits that Phoenix wouldn't just keep a bad party member just b/c they were childhood friends. However, they begin to wonder why MC didn't just tell them about his abilities. Why did he just stay silent whenever they belittled him? Bella makes another good point that perhaps MC did not say anything b/c he had a good reason to avoid the spotlight.
-Bella points out that their performance has only fallen after MC left. She is the one explains that, despite the three being top-tier adventurers, MC is the one who had ability to raise their abilities even further making them (basically) super-tier adventurers.
-Lily is the only one who has understood Bella's intentions. They finally realize that with MC gone their bad performance is their original/actual ability. He was boosting them w/ his black magic. They have to fix their evaluation of themselves to improve. Finally realizing that they actually suck.
-Lily asks if Phoenix knew about MC's true abilities. Phoenix mentions that he's told them MULTIPLE TIMES that MC was more than they thought him to be and that he has never once lied about MC's abilities. Again, Luck ask why did MC hide it and stay silent when he was being kicked out. Phoenix says that isn't his place to answer / won't tell what MC didn't tell. It probably tied to how MC's teacher was Lucifer himself.
-Phoenix wonders that if MC's teacher (Lucifer) hadn't approved of MC telling him who his mentor was, would he have noticed MC's ability without this knowledge?
