well lily is originally the daughter of a man (sry i forgot her father's name) from the main family of qin family and her mother was the daughter of an prominent bussiness woman in europe ...her grandfather is a former prince who left his right to throne to marry her grandmother ( IIRC her name is lilian)....well her story is that her mother ran away from her home (IIRC it was becoz she did not wanted to get into an arranged marriage) and came to china where she fell in love with a man who was already engaged...now the fiancee was the daughter of a from a different family who was friends with the head (the grandfather) of the qin family and he had died on the battlefield while fighting along side the qin head.....the fiancee believed that her father was killed by qin head in batllefield when qin head used her father as a shield to hide from the bullets shot by the enemies.....she became an orphan and the old qin head taking sympathy on her ..adopted her in his family and later engaged her to lily's father...her father also had a brother who was not as capable as him.....now the mother and father fell in love and the moher gave birth to twins a boy and a girl ....while she left the boy in the hospital ...she ran away with the baby girl...she with lily lived in a branch qin family as maid or ( or was it mistress) and lily as illegitimate child.... well years later she came back as a prominent business woman ......to take revenge on qin family ..she had not taken it yet beause of her grandmother from qin branch family ...the mother of the head of qin branch family....as she loved lily and always cared for her...so lily cannot bring herself to take revenge as it would cause her grandmother problems
