Berserk Chapter 224 Discussion

I'm starting to feel the weight of an oversized cast and emphasis on more traditional fantasy magic. I hope I get used to this over time, as it stands I hate how there's three comic relief characters when Puck did the job perfectly fine on his own, on top of being actually funny and charming. This may just be a matter of time, but I also don't love how disconnected the cast feels from one another. They're working together, sure, but so far it feels like they're divided into smaller internal groups, and don't have much chemistry.

I love it when characters gain new abilities and gear over the course of a series, but having most of the cast receive magical artifacts all at once doesn't sit right with me for multiple reasons. I fear that Serpico in particular, who's already an extremely talented and interesting swordsman before receiving his magical wind sword thingie, might lose some of what made his cliffside fight against Guts so fantastic.

For now, I guess we'll see. Maybe these things will all feel natural by the time the arc is done, but for now I feel they're valid points of concern.

it's always so badass when a group of people see guts demolish an entire group of soldiers or monsters before their eyes and they can't help but to look in awe... this chapter had a lot of really great other stuff too

Yeah as i was reading it, i really enjoyed that people were in awe as guts slice em up like a cheese lol
