Dang, this was just seven chapters away from being Chapter 69.
Anywho, I honestly wasn't ever expecting a chapter-wide sex scene featuring Guts. But anything is fair game in this manga.
And my God, his body is jacked. The first and foremost emotion I was feeling during this read was envy. Maybe I need to go into the mountains and swing a sword up and down for a couple of years.
Guts is interesting, though. In a world dominated my lustrous, self-interested bastards, Guts is willing to post-pone sexual intercourse to have a reassuring conversation with Casca. They're sitting there naked and ready and Guts is hunched over counseling her. What a breath of fresh air for a series like this. And for the first time, it feels like we're seeing something sexual with meaning behind it... as if Guts is doing this with the intention of building his relationship with Casca, and for legitimate mental healing or whatever. Like what he was telling Casca, "all you need to feel is alive". There was something very pure about this scene of which could be dubbed dirty. Reading it, I felt pretty indifferent. With all the other dark crap we've seen throughout the manga, this scene in comparison -- which is supposed to be a burst of tensions of sorts, and a big deal -- didn't lead me to bat an eye. (Although there was a slight discomfort there. Like a guilt -- as if I shouldn't be imposing on the personal affairs of the MC's. Seeing the main character naked and in-action almost seems like something that isn't meant to be seen. Maybe this mindset is immature, though. Maybe I'm not as cultured as the preceding commenters lmfao.)
All that said, of course Guts had to have a flaaaaaaaaaashbaaaaaaaaaack. Ol' boulder boy Don. Guts got hella cockblocked by his post-traumatic stress. Donovan and Gambino are still screwing him post-mortem style in his mind.
Actually, before him and Casca began, I thought to myself that Guts seemed like the person who'd have PTSD when it came to this kinda stuff. I was initially surprised he was so willing to do it with Casky and was wondering why the author didn't utilize the opportunity to implement the childhood trauma. But I spoke/thought too soon. I'm wondering how things'll play out in the next chapter.
