Who knew Guts had a philosophical side to him! It seems to have creeped Casca out a bit though. Guts wants to distance himself from the band of hawks, and seems to be trying to Egg Casca on into closing the distance with griffith. Definitely a calmer chapter! Although the last page definitely signified a new threat looming!

I liked the Flame analogy or metaphor.. We see Guts perspective quite well when he mentions "he's simply passing by".

This chapter was beautiful and thought-provoking. It was like the first time I've seen this scene kek

The thousands of small flames surrounding a big one~

Okay so Casca is wistfully looking at Gatts. I think Gatts, well both of them really, know better than to start anything. Especially under Griffith. *shudders*

Thanks for the refering the name, made it easier to localize what I was reading correspondend to on MAL, since I m reading by volumes and there is no chapter numeration there.

Great chapter, absolutly gorgeous view with all the fires burning slowing in the horizon, really surprised me how beautiful the manga can be, outside epic scale and detailed art.

This one chapter alone is exceptional development for Guts. He really is an excellent character.

What I find most amusing is that all this "development" which has happened--and there has been a lot of development-- is happening in a flashback. While I do find it interesting seeing all of this backstory, seeing the dynamics between Guts and Griffith and how their relationship has evolved, and hopefully seeing what led them to becoming enemies, I'm really just looking forward to seeing the actual plot advance. It's been so long since we've entered this backstory that I almost forgot the more carefree, relaxed, and sociable Guts of now was at one point a drastic shift from his original (and later?) behavior.
