Berserk Chapter 102 Discussion

This chapter was titled "Afterglow of the Right Eye". Sweet ass title, but I missed him losing his eye my first time reading. I blame the bullshit chapter pissing me off too much to see straight.
Omfg this is an underrated comment. Since the beginning of Berserk, I always wondered how Guts would eventually lose his eye.
I too read straight through this chapter, "too pissed" (as they say) to see straight (pun intended).
Then, in the next chapter, I saw Guts with a bandage over his eye, and presumed he lost it sometime during the Eclipse. And I thought WTF WHEN DID GUTS LOSE HIS EYE????
But yeah. Throughout the manga I'd been wondering. And it finally happened.
I actually had to read the Wiki and some Reddit forums to get a better understanding of what happened. Maybe I'm just too dense.
But for future reference: Chapter 87 (102 according MAL) is when Guts loses his right eye.
And might I say, it was more discrete than I thought it would be. The blood pouring down over his vision as he watched Casca was pretty dramatic... but the claw slowly gouging into his eye was somewhat discrete. I always thought it would be a big dramatic sword that would plunge into his eye, but again, in the fashion things were executed I totally missed it!
I'm SO glad someone else missed it too. Now I don't have to feel so stupid.
I also didn't notice the significance of the title, either. "Afterglow of the Right Eye." Really nice. Points to the author for assigning the chapter such a good title.
