I think there has been enough foreshadowing up until this point to say that it is not really a god thing Griffith found the necklace. What a great character, though. I mean, god damn.

Much symbolism in this chapter. Griffith understands the value of what he's lost now. However his will isn't broken yet. He's still willing to go down his self decided path.
