Fire? Oh my god if they are in Honnouji temple maybe this is where Mitsuhide is betraying Nobunaga! But more importantly... HANZOU!!! (99% sure atleast), If that is him I think I know what happened, Mitsuhide probably saw Hanzou (injured probably hence the year long disappearance) and hid him. Then saying all three leaders were killed however conveniently butchered so badly that they aren't even recognizable anymore.
