Maybe Imai is tired of half assed fights and simply wants to go against someone equally powerful head on.

                        I'm kind of with Manabu and Ippo on this one. What IS going on? A champion who ignores his style and training, and just resorts to a slug fest? Is he that pissed that the challenger didn't go down in a single hit? Maybe it'll get explained more in the next chapter. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hoshi got that monstrous right hand but Imai is the champ..

Imai is probably just pissed that someone managed to tank his right head on, so he's getting worked up and trying to maintain his 1st round KO streak.



Or he's distracted by something else, maybe related to Miyata, but it's more likely the former.
