Decided it was time to try and give the Bleach manga a read, though I have my doubts that I'll bother to finish it. My history with Bleach starts when they first started airing it on Adult Swim way back when, and I liked it. Up until the Soul Society arc, where I quickly lost interest and dropped it. The point that everyone highlights as the best part of Bleach is when I lost all my interest in it. But I always felt like maybe that was more because of the anime's pacing than the base story itself. Going into this, I hope that was the case. I did enjoy Bleach's first arc when it was MOTW but that was ages ago, I've seen a lot more sense then, my tastes has refined, so it'll be interesting to see if I'll still like this part.
As for the first chapter? It's fine, I think it's a pretty solid premise if nothing else, although to be honest the amount of focus giving on just how special Ichigo is kind of turns me off (thought that's in part due to future spoilers I know). On the plus side though, I quite like Rukia's bunny drawings, and I think the chapter managed to be effectively cool in Ichigo's easy defeat of the Hollow.
