"..Everyone in the rebel army..". Why are they considered "rebels" and not "invaders"?
Hints like that are always killing me. I hope I'm not thinking too much.
I have always been thinking that Quincies might have been original owners of Soul Society and Shinigami were a sub-caste(hence the demonic mottiff). So you would have "demons" taking over heaven from "angels".
By this logic it's the Shinigami who are the "rebels".
Millenia ago? Yes.
But just like the whole monologue about point of view in the war implies - both sides might view each other as rebels now.
Shinigami rebelled, took over the place, created SS and claimed it their own and now they view quincies as rebels to their system, while vice-versa is true for Quincies who might also feel like they are "righteously" reclaiming their land. .
There are a lot of parallels with WW II in this and remember with what premise the fascist Germany went to war? To reclaim their lands that were taken from them.
Beautiful stuff. It's just that , if things are as you say then I would expect Yamamoto to say sth like "I won't hand over the SS back to them" rather than call them rebels. Your theory pumps me up but I think there could be even more. Maybe, both of them were part of SS and rather than Shinigami taking over SS the Quincies rebeled back then as well, and so Yamamoto calls them rebels. I'm beating arround the bush right now but all I want to say is that the word rebel in this case could be stated in the objective sense , meaning that the Quincies tried to take over SS and overthrow RG back then, and once again today.
On a side note I have a question: Can anyone who knows japanese and saw the raw version analayze his name? I don't know what's up exactly with kanji and japanese writing but if Juha Bach means sth I would like to know.
