Fun chapter. Nice to see SS make a Captain meeting for Ichigo. They welcomed him as their ally (his request was odd and I think the fear Ichigo a bit). I wonder what's going on in Ukitakes head. Was that badge really only to limit Ichigo reiatsu so he would not create more Inoue clones from the rest of his class mates?

I doubt its welcoming him as their ally.

The first thing captains did when Ichigo came was pretty much surround Captain Commander with themselves as if fearing what Ichigo would do.

Also Ichigo's request, not only strange, but has a very interesting deeper meaning: Ichigo is basically saying that GInjou's body does not belong to them, that SS does not deserve the right to bury him because in a sense, what Ginjou became IS SS fault.

Its a very nice and mature way of saying "I know how you view my kind and what you guys are capable to do and while I have no reason to  be your enemy and you are my sort-of friends and allies, I do not blame Ginjou in slightest,  I know what you can do and what you did IS your fault"

Yeah. The captains he met first had closer relationship with Ichigo yet they approached him with reserve. Kyoraku was silent and once Ichigo asked for the body he had that mean look in his eye. Also the rest of the meeting was left unseen. Kyoraku just reported to Ukitake badge status. Was Ginjo's body and Badge all Ichigo came for to SS?

You hit the nail with your reply ;)

Ichigo: "And he... is a mere... shinigami representative"

Yamamoto: "That Phrase. Would I be correct in taking that phrase as a deeply deliberate one?"

Damn, Ichigo got balls. Almost felt like he was mocking them when he described Ginjo as a substitue shinigami, I don't think SS want to give Ginjo any kind of shinigami title anymore.

But I don't fully understand why he wanted Ginjo's body back... was he trying to make the point that just because a person is a shinigami representative, that doesn't mean that he is an object owned by the gotei 13?

Rose got his squad back from Gin, Kensei got his back from Tousen and Shinji got his back from Aizen... but Komamura was still wearing his white haori, I'm guessing that Love didn't see a need to challenge him for it. I still wonder how he feels about that.

weren't the Vizards supposed to be executed 100 years ago?

I mean seriously even if it was behind Aizen's doing just simply allowing them to come back and become captains again is just plain stupid...They were going to be exterminated, not executed, I believe that Urahara was the only one who believed they could be trusted after hollowification. There might even have been doubts about whether they could regain their personalities. They did nothing wrong and later... they proved that they could be counted on. Not sure if Soul Society feel the same way about Urahara and Yoruichi though...

The end of an arc that so many people bashed for no good reason. It was really thought out and logical, as well as it revealed a lot of information... the thing is, that information wasn't SHOWN CLEARLY. It was between the lines. Most of people who have shallow reading skills and simply skipped through the pages instead of READING, didn't get most of the arc and just decided to bash it, instead of thinking that maybe they just didn't get what it was about.

The finest example is the confusion around Tsukishima's death (who CLEARLY died and almost a whole chapter was about it) or now Riruka's death (she CLEARLY didn't jump, it's CLEARLY visible).

If people don't get OBVIOUS and CLEAR messages, how are they going to get the ones hiding between lines? This arc was probably one of the best from Kubo actually, definitely one that he spent some thought on and decided on the ending from the start (unlike Hueco Mundo, where it was clearly drawn out as long as possible).

The way Ichigo proclaimed his independence from Soul Society (by asking for Ginjou's body, who was a substitute shinigami just like himself) was done really nice. Now they know that he trusts them, but they better not fuck with him or they'll be in for some good beating.

I have no absolutely no idea how I should be feeling right now after reading this chapter. It's too open in too many ways for me to accept that we've been given any kind of closure.
