FMA is superior because of style... Arakawa mixes comedy and humor really well... which is already easier in monthly manga than in weekly one alone.

She is very adept at juggling shonen genre tropes and making them work, but does that make her an uber awesomely great writer? She started a slice-of-life manga few months ago and it sucks horribly.

Kubo... Good character designs with some unique outfits... good fight scenes and generally good flow in volume format (there are no sudden cut offs in terms of volume flow and it feels more like a volume separated into chapters than chapters bundled into volume, which is VERY good thing). He throws in some references and stuff there and there, manages to hold off and pay off secrets, while still keeping most of stuff relatively simple for the demographic shonen genre is for.  Bleach is easy to adapt on-screen, character moves translate well into video games and so on. The best part is that he so far managed to hide the shonen virtues quite well within a story, without turning them into litteral objects.

Wow mate, your latest post is wicked. You really blow them a "getsuga tenshou" back there, eh! (^_~)

Nice, you point out what makes BLEACH "bLeacH!" I really like what you said, "...it feels more like a volume separated into chapters than chapters bundled into volume..." and "Bleach is easy to adapt on-screen."

Also, I totally agree when you said that you don't take joy in piracy. We should really support Japanese anime and manga industry by buying manga volumes, BD anime releases, and games since we're fans of it.

This was an okay chapter. Plot developing here, so I'm guessing it's all all-out Shinigami VS Fullbringers. Well maybe now formerly phoney fullbringers + Ichigo's powers. >.>

Chad and Orihime's mind-fucked memory moments were quite intriguing though. Them getting trolled by Tsukishima lolol. xD 'The shinigami are helping Ichigo?!'

What I want to see is Isshin and Urahara actually fight for once, again. Them fighting Aizen was barely anything. :\\

Bleach is what it is. Nothing more, nothing less. The reason people still reads it is because they want to find out what happens next. People can hate it as much as they can, but they will still read it for the sake of finding out what happens. The irony.

Wanna know what's the real irony in all of this? I read it for free. I'm never going to spend a cent on this failure.

So it's okay to make really dumb decisions that could spell your defeat, because you are in a shonen manga?

Yes. Shonen manga Genre target audience is young Most of people reading(actually reading) Bleach haven't even read its predecessors.

There are certain tropes that exist in every damn shonen manga ever. In a sense its educational material.

Excepting something uber brilliant from shonen genre is like expecting plot from Haruhi or depth from Michael Bay. Its a genre where you sit back and look at cool explosions and character power ups. Noting occasional reference or two.

There are few shonen genre manga that are more than the genre itself, but most of cases are genre misplacement(Claymore), a very genius author(D.grayman, trc) or just plain quality presentation of same cliches in awesome ways(FMA)

You completely missed my point. Any kind of work, IMO, is fine even if it isn't a masterpiece. What I want is a decent plot, without incosistencies, plot holes, and easy resolutions through deus ex machinas, rounded characters and an art style that doesn't look horrible. And I expect all of this to be in a shonen manga, because that's how it should be, and there are a ton a works that fall under this description.

I wish this arc would finish already. It was cool when Rukia and the others came back, but now it's lame again.

So one need to read bleach in volumes instead chapters to get better feeling and flow. i can understand it's fun to read lots of bundled chapters and that's how i catch up with bleach in the beginning but calling "volume separated into chapters" good is beyond my thinking.

I wanted bundled chapters in a volume and not one volume material in 2 chapters (you get normally in other manga) with lots of wasted panels and pages.

That was my ONLY complain in the very beginning. why 60 episodes took 182 chapters in anime adaptation where one piece only need 80/90 chapters..  That is one of the reason bleach able to finished only 3 big arcs until now.
