Please, Akamatsu. Don't go Kubo on us. Don't make Fate ally with Negi. This would be a terrible idea. I know the evidence is starting to mount, but... really?

You're gonna have to explain that one.  How would what Negi said be "going Kubo on us?"  It's not as if Ichigo wants to be friends with Aizen or anything.  So, explain to me please?

Renji and Uryu. Both were Ichigo's rival characters, both are now his allies. Ichigo befriending Aizen's equivalent would be Negi befriending the Lifemaker, so obviously that is not a parallel.

When I read that last line, ny thoughts where "What the heck is with this Nanoha-ish development?" so that face is priceless. Anyway, this is pretty much what all of us were expecting since way back, but what took my by surprise is Negi declaring it as one of his goals before the start of the battle.

Actually the whole thing would make a lot of sense if Fate was actually involved  in the attack to Negi's village (altough Kurt Godel said it was the Megalomesembria Senate) since the whole training was for Negi to accept/control/assimilate/something the darkness inside him. If he wants to be friends with him would mean he's over the incident that flueled his resolve until now, marks his starting point as Negi said himself and also accelerated the growth of his inner demon when he was speaking with Godel. Still, it keeps me wondering is how he arrived to such conclusion taking in mind all the flashbacks, as if he wanted to do that from the very begining and questioning what an enemy and the power of darkness really are. We'll have to wait for Akamatsu to explain this later.

Alonside that, Negi's attitude seems to have changed a lot. The whole point of learning Magia Eberea was for him to fight alone and not expose the others to danger and now he says he can trust on them is his magic ties to take over him again. Well, also he choose his master's way over his father's because he said he liked her, and now he also doesn't mind if he turns into a demon just like her XD Man, even his pimp-ness has moved forward.

Well Eva said that his control wasn't complete probably because he didn't moved on about his past. I don't beleive that Fate was related to the attack of the village but I wouldn't be surprised if he helped the village during the attack.

It was a very good chapter until the terrible "I was to be friends with that guy"...

I just hope Fate gets destroyed by the Lifemaker before he and Negi *become friends*.

@Obliviouz : LOL yeah! She's so cute when the author bullies her. ^^'

First of all, Negi was actually referring to Fate?!  At first I couldn't make heads or tails based on that line!

Was anybody else hearing Libera Me from Hell while reading this?  A really excellent chapter indeed.

Well I only said the Ichigo befriending Aizen thing as an exaggeration of how ridiculous Kubo's plot-twisting can be.  But when you said "don't go Kubo on us," I'm assuming you meant that the plot-twist Akamatsu did here is comparably as bad as Kubo's direction of plot where some of the characters say ridiculous things (i.e: Ichigo's "leg for a leg" statement to Ulquiorra) or when Aizen says "you are ignorant, I am more powerful than you think I am."  That's what I usually hear people get pissed off at with reading Bleach.

So was that what you meant and if so, then why?  If not, then what did you really mean?

What I meant is that Kubo is fond of making The Rival pull a Face Heel Turn. And it's looking increasingly likely that Fate will do that.

But you have a valid point too. This has come somewhat out of nowhere, in a way very reminiscent of Bleach's most asinine plot points. Frankly, this is really worrying. Especially since Negima had, until now, been above this sort of shonen dickery. It really worries me that Negima might be about to Jump The Shark.

...I'm in a trope-happy mood today.

Anyway, I hope that Ako's pactio will have the most ridiculously destructive ability possible. I mean, how funny would that be?

Umm, Kotaro?

True, but I find that example to be a little more justified. I mean, their conflict was pretty much over at that point.

Or don't go cliche shonen on us.  Then again, the whole "controlling your inner darkness" concept is kinda cliche in itself.  Even Negi's elongated hair style isn't all that original to be frank, though I'm suprised nobody has bothered to point any of that out.

Negima was always cliché, but that was the point. That was the fun. It took everything that was loveable about shonen with none of the bullshit.

In fact I have been expecting this...:) So I don't mind...:)

Don't worry, Negi, you've already mastered Therapy no Jutsu (or some magical equivalent) so you can go Nanoha on his ass...
