Mahou Sensei Negima! Chapter 253 Discussion

That's why I love Negima: The story chapters are amazing and it's filler chapters make you laught like crazy XD (Seriously those who disliked the chapter because of no story development should have their brains examided). A lot of funny stuff, but Sayo's "new?" body and Akira having her lips assaulted by Negi-kun DK-1 (and it's astonishing 23.5 cm) where my favourites.

ha ha I think we're on the same wavelength here, not a very interesting chapter overall though.

Nothing special happened...although Haruna is just awesome with her Sayo-Robot body and her fake Negi, Haruna is just evil^^

I thought Kotarou isn't a mage so how can he make a pactio...?

Even though nothing important happen this chapter was still kinda funny

Deep kiss negi robot was hilarious

akira is just awesome for taking that bullet/negi kissing robot

would be cool if they got a useful pactio and not something that just reflects their personality

Well...this was one upside-down chapter, nothing special though...I hope in the next one some of the girls can make up their mind eh...no story development =( and I wanna know what setsuna's 2nd card can do! I bet something great xD since it's a YURI card xD

The chapter not being contributory to story-development isn't precisely correct though, after all character development actually does occur here. We have Natsumi, with regards to her feelings about Kotaro, there's also Ku Fei's thoughts on Negi, there's Makie learning about Ako and the rest of the maid trio's trials and also Ako x "Nagi" love story and her reflections with regards to how this affects her in some way, then there's Sayo and Chachamaru's thoughts about Negi (though it's mostly Chachamaru who's really thinking about Negi in a romantic way, ne. Plus of course the girls finding out from Asakura how pactios are really done, ne (a little too late for Akira, but ne, we see how selfless she can be (yet again), especially for her close friends ne)...plus of course we see how Haruna's skills have yet again improved (or well, we see more evidence of what level her pactio usage skills are now at)....sure, the story development for the "tension" on the other side: Negi and Godel or Setsuna's post-pactio revelation (about what her artifact could possibly be) aren't expounded on, but ne, this is a good cliffhanger chapter too, considering that this occurs while the incidents concerning Negi and Setsuna's side of things happens at pretty much the same time, ne. This will probably have an important bearing on what happens in the next chapter, after the break.

I wonder if Sayo will be able to go to battle in her Sayo Gundam (the moment I saw those head-mounted gatlings I couldn't help but call it Sayo Gundam... or maybe Sayondam ?? Akamatsu truly outdid himself here, merging Ultimate Cuteness with Ultimate Firepower. The thing that truly shocked me was that Haruna actually felt regret for summoning that "Negi Kissing Terminator 2.0". You don't usually see Haruna regretting something.

Also as halberdiers said Kotarou isn't a mage but a Ki user so I wonder if forming a pactio is even possible for him... or maybe we'll get a hilarious situation where it'll Kotarou doing the Minister job to his Magister Natsumi, though I don't recall Natsumi practising magic so... but who knows.
