Well, I do think that R+V fight scenes are not that complicated. They are just as simple as that. The greater intellect/strength wins than that of the weak.
The focus of the story is more on the origins of the monster and the life of Tsukune with those circumstances (human, living with the monsters).
the fights aren't cliche... how can they be cliche when they're all just one page of dodge+punch and one full page of walking away from an explosion? xD
and four pages of pained expressions and build up, lol
