Damn, all these years... And suddenly it ends... I feel weird now, I have followed the FMP series for years, always wondering how will it end. The second half of Sigma was a masterpiece, people died, people laughed, people cried. And I was so sure that Kurz died back then.

Can somebody tell me if the novels have a similar ending? Or is it different? I'm most curious about what happened after Sousuke and Kaname returned back to school. Do the books tell anything about that?

There is a section of one of the earlier books that Sigma doesn't cover well. I forget if it is "Approaching Nick of Time" or "Come Make My Day". But the final pair of novels, "Always Stand By Me" parts 1 and 2, are covered pretty well by Sigma. The ending is pretty much exactly as it is in the LN, with the exception that the kiss scene is slightly different:

They start kissing, as it is presented in the manga. Kaname has her internal dialog about embarrassment, etc... The difference is that they break apart for a second and she says out loud "Don't care anymore!" and grabs his head and goes to town on him. (In other words, she kisses him passionately, not caring about the people watching. When I read it, I interpreted it as the type of kiss that, if they were alone, would end up with them half clothed on the bed after stumbling through the apartment, bumping into things, and taking off each others cloths, leaving a trail behind them. Of course, since they were in the school courtyard, it wasn't like that, but that is the intensity I got from reading the LN.)

All in all, the LN is better, but the original source is almost always better. There are a few places where the visuals in the manga make it better, though, and the fan translation is better in the manga, in general.

I have spent nearly 10 years (if not, 10 yrs) enjoying the FMP series, just waiting to see how it would end! Finally, FINALLY! I am so glad to have finished this...relatively unspoiled!...relatively... It is great to see a great series end without large story gimmicks to force it to end a certain way. And it is great to see a well written action manga end on a pretty good note. By far, one of my favorite series. Now, they just need to finish the anime counterpart...

I'm a bit disappointed to be honest. After all these deaths and crushed hopes Sousuke really dying would be much more fitting. It would be a quite bitter ending but slapping a "happy end" on that feels really out of place. Still a good read nonetheless.

OH MAN! What a great end to the series!

I honestly thought the manga was going to take a dumb route, but I'm really glad I stuck with it to the end.

Great manga: 8/10

Seems like I'm late to the party but I really enjoyed this great series.

NAMI DESERVES TO LIVE...ugh..

Only complaint I really have is that I wish for a more firm Tessa ending, what is she planning on doing now?  Solid manga though, glad I kept reading after the anime stopped.

That was great. I hope there will be 3rd season of anime someday.

Yesssssss a happy ending.

They kissed in front of the whole school but that's fine and dandy <3

Some bits of the chapter felt a bit fast. Sosuke's entrance was almost laughable in a way lol but I'm glad they are back where they started.

No more weapons but there is a relationship there.

8/10. This has been a fine journey.

An excellent adaptation to a long-awaited ending to a series in visual form. I'm really glad that at the very least, this has been adapted to manga and with such accuracy to the original light novel.

The more serious this series gets, the more boring it gets. Best part is still Fumoffu and that's comedy.

I sort of have to agree. Once the plot goes into "drama" mode it's pretty average and standard in plot writing. The series does have a proper balance of comedy, romance, and action.

Shame we never got to see the later parts of this story adapted into an anime.
